Reinhart and it shouldn't even be close. Rhino did it for nearly a decade, Gelinas was only here for 2 years and was a star with us for only a couple months.

I picked Reinhart. It looks like Gelinas is going to win because of the 2004 playoffs or maybe more specifically two goals in the 2004 playoffs. To me, that is unfortunate.
These are weak examples but it is like picking Dave Lowry over Pavel Bure or someone like John Druce over Nicklas Backstrom.

The Flames franchise has had playoff success 1 time in the last 25 seasons. Gelinas was instrumental in that success and will live on in the annals of Flames history for it.
As Jiri said, moments matter, particularly when they're that rare and iconic.

Scored the OT goal that put the Flames into the second round of the playoffs, something that hadn't happened for 15 years. Then scored the second round clinching goal, then scored the third round clinching goal. Then scored the goal in game 6 that was never counted which could have won Calgary the Stanley Cup.
He was magic in that run, something many will never forget.

Hilarious that a poll on calgarypuck can cause so much nastiness. We've got guys calling out other guys' intelligence for their vote and now we've begun to minimize the contributions of the player who is leading the poll.

IMO it's a case of the younger crowd vs the older crowd,
I voted Gelinas for the obvious 04 magic he produced but also because he was around when I was alive.

I don't think it is necessarily the older crowd vs the younger crowd. Some feel that Gelinas and his playoff run was more important than Reinhart's contributions. Others don't agree. I think Gelinas will always be fondly remembered in Calgary for those huge goals (not to mention the leadership he brought). It doesn't mean that voting for Reinhart is belittling Gelinas' accomplishments, however. Reinhart was a very amazing player in his time with Calgary and was a truly gifted player. To vote for him isn't saying that the "Eliminator" was wasn't huge for the history of the Flames. Just your personal perception of who was more important to the franchise in their respective times here.

He had a great playoff in 2004 and not much else. Do we vote for a playoff run verses a solid career in Calgary for Reinhart. IMO that seems to be the division on how this poll is being voted. Depending on the reasons for one voting we should probably have a co-winner for this number

I'd consider voting for Gelinas if the Flames won the cup that year. For better or worse I am one of those fans who believes that playoff success only counts when it's a cup win and therefore Gelinas' few playoff goals aren't any more important to me than Wes Walz's few playoff goals. With that said, Reinhart is my vote and to me it's not even close.

Hoping for a Rhino in a comeback. Marty had the best moments, but Paul had the best Flames career (IMO).

This post sums up the results.
Rhino was a top calibre d-man in his day, but wasn't so good he left a lasting legacy like Macinnis. I am struggling to pick a current d-man to compare him to for his popularity/impact.
Think of maybe a guy like Roman Hamrlik, but he spent a decade with the team. A cornerstone player, that didn't hog the spotlight, but was a player that undoubtedly made the team better. But did it quietly without taking the spotlight. Without a doubt he should be way ahead of Gelinas, but this result is more a reflection of the age demographic of the board, not the impact of the player.
If you could somehow handicap the voting to give more value to the voters that actually watched the team from day one, Rhino would be way out ahead.

Big assumption your part. I watched Reinhart as a Flame closely. I know how good he was. I voted Gelinas for reasons outlined. I see others who have done the same who I know are in the older crowd.
Don't dismiss how people choose to vote as an age thing. Gelinas and Reinhart are both valid choices.

I also watched Reinharts entire career and still chose Marty.
But I don't think it is wrong for others to choose Paul.
