Good luck to everyone writing tomorrow. I'll be writing level 3 for the first time but doubt I will pass. Been absolutely slammed at work the last few months and wasn't even sure if I was going to sit for the exam until 2 weeks ago.

Congrats! You must of received your email early, last year I did not get my email until closer to 11 am, it was a very stressful few hours at work.
I am waiting for Level 3 results, so still a couple more weeks.

Since Slava and Surferguy still haven't claimed their free drink. Anyone who passed get at me for a drink on me! I know the time and energy it takes to pass that beast and you deserve a drink!

Nice work! I buggered up derivatives and as a result I have the pleasure of doing level two again next June I thought that I nailed Equities but only landed in the 50-70 range, so that kind of sucks also, although it could've been on the cusp I guess.

Hey All. 'Tis that time of year again.
I'm working through the level 3 curriculum, onto practice exams at this point, but I wouldn't mind a bit more reference material on the written component. I seem to remember one of you guys (firebug maybe?) mentioning prep videos that were helpful in one thread or another, but I can't find it right now.
Help?

I'm slogging through L2 again and feel relatively good about it. I have been through the course twice and by the weekend (or partway through it) I will have cue cards made for the entire course. I have gone through all of the end of chapter questions. I'm taking the week off before the exam and will be powering through mock exams and such between now and then. Fun times.
I bought the Arif Irfanullah videos and they're good. They go through each reading and basically hit everything. Maybe those are the videos you are alluding to?

As Slava mentioned, I used Arif's videos and was very satisfied. I used them much earlier in my prep though and not so much for the prep on the writing portion. Certainly if there are a couple areas that you are still challenged by watching a video or two would still help.
Best of luck to both of you!

Thanks guys. That's who I was thinking of. Feeling pretty confident about the material, but I can get a bit obsessive towards the end with wanting to get my hands on everything.
I will take a look at the vids from Arif.
Cheers.

I felt really confident and was pretty much sure I would pass this time...until I did the CFAI mock. Now I really don't know. Its funny, because when I do the EOC questions I do really well...like 80% kind of well (for the most part). That mock was crushing me though. I can't wait for 5:01pm tomorrow...of maybe a little later for that first sip of the post-exam beer!

Quick question for those who have passed their exams / work in the industry:
I am currently employed as an EIT (O&G, Jr. Project Engineer/EIT) with 2 years of experience in the industry so far. I have a casual interest in quantitative finance, and I think that it is the career I would like the most outside of engineering. Given the state of the O&G industry, I am going to preemptively look into alternatives just in case.
Are the exams a good way to get one's foot in the door within the industry? Or is the lack of a business degree a deal breaker?
Appreciate the input!

^ Tough to say really because it depends on what you want to do? People use the CFA in all kinds of ways and it's a bit like a white collar trade in that sense. In Calgary there are lots of corporate charter holders of course and some guys manage money. Some people take it for more or less less general interest and have no plan to use it...I question their sanity!

I took mine for general interest, more or less. Partly because I wanted to prove to myself that I could still do math, also to understand more what our finance team does, and finally, because my workplace will pay for my MBA.
