Definitely like the steps they're taking towards realism. Being able to see the build up and fight for garbage goals in front of the net is a nice addition.
I just want to know if they fixed the online issues;
Not getting credit for games because of other people quitting, getting booted to the main menu after every game, cumbersome and time consuming player editting all made me regret buying NHL 14.
Call of Duty Black Ops had it right. Ability to edit while queing for games, easy intuitive and quick to start games, proper credit and xp given.
In a game where I want to play multiplayer only I don't want to spend the majority of the time looking at menus and then when I do get into a game have it not count. If they don't fix these issues I won't get it.

You missed not being able to switch control settings in an online game after they constantly revert to different settings. My biggest pet peeve of the game.
I have no clue why you wouldn't be able to select camera relative/always up after the online match has started.

i must have missed that. where was it? because when i watched the video, i saw the same stuff as years past: defenders just randomly standing near players but not actually doing anything. i guess thats what has always frustrated me about the game and how they always claim to be realistic... the physical play of the game is non existant. to EA, they think that physical play means crazy huge body checks that RARELY happen in real life but happen 8 times a period in their games. but yet if you watch the nhl, it is a gruesome battle in front of the net and in the corners. (even though its still tame to years past because of rule and style changes) but yet in their games, defenders never lock up a guy unless its the weird suction pulling you into a canned animation. they introduce board battles but instead of helping bring that aspect of real hockey to the game, it becomes a way for offensive players to glitch their way around contact. i am sure most of you are sick of hearing me whine, but it just seems like every year nothing changes. i know its a video game and people want excitement, but to me the nhl series is still nowhere near emulating actual nhl play. heck, i am still waiting for forwards to collapse down on their own goalie when there is a scramble in front of their own net. in real life, all 5 guys will be within a few feet of the goalie trying to clear the puck out. in the ea games, the wings stay out at the point and often 1 or two other defenders will be randomly covering guys away from the net.
i am optimistic that the new consoles will allow the game to really improve, but from what we have seen, i just have no reason to think anything other than this game will be a let down as always.

In other words, EA modeled the game after the Oilers.

He does have a really good point. In real NHL games the forwards get black and blue midsections if they stand around the front of the net but in EAs game it's nearly impossible to tie up the forwards so you stand there trying to poke check passes and lift sticks.
Being able to stick handle without the risk of accidentally shooting the puck would be nice as that never happens in real hockey. Just so many elements that move it away from simulation and towards learning to exploit weaknesses in the mechanics. The worst of all was hitting a guy into the boards and he bounces off them like a pinball towards the net with the puck.

Ea addressed this in NHL 12 when asked for this feature. They said all these settings were savable so they would apply to the game mode you save them for but not editable after an online game. The reasoning for that was to help speed the game along and prevent pausing for people to change settings.....Yes pausing exists but it would be foolish to think it wouldn't increase if settings were adjustable mid game.

You can tie up players out front of the net by clicking down the right thumbstick, this prevents them from receiving passes or tipping pucks in "most" cases. However this feature is hardly ever used by defenders. In the NHL Rule 56.1 has drastically changed the "clear the front of the net" hack and slash system that the NHL used to have, there is some contact but not nearly as much as there used to be because of that rule. I imagine EA wants to mimic the NHL rules so they use the tie up button to simulate jostling out front of the net.
I haven't shot when stick handling and did not know that was a common issue nor have I seen someone bounce off the boards but that doesn't mean it has not happened.
I agree that the game in the last few years has become more about trying to find the exploit vs playing the game and thats what im hoping they focus on as well. NHL 10 was easy to score on 1-timers by passing across the slot, did it happen alot ....yes but at least it promoted passing and teamplay. Last Years game was all about walking into the slot and getting off the drag wrister, that promoted solo play and cherry picking which I feel really took away from the enjoyable experience. I have high hopes for this years game but expect the majority of changes will be in year 2 of the next gen systems.

And that's where my beef stems from. They don't save. I'll fire up the PS3 and an online match and my controls are magically set to 'always up' for no reason.
As far as the increased pausing, you're only given 2 so how would that cause pausing to increase.

All my settings saved.
And I don't get the up in arms about pausing. Each team is only given 2, 3 I think if you have 4 or more players. If that 1 min to 2 min total time is enough to drive you to a rage may I suggest some anger management... maybe some cardio kickboxing. Or, if you want too you could rub one out before you play.
Just some suggestions that might help y'all out.
Also, why, in an NHL 15 thread, is everyone still talking about, and bringing up the shortcomings of NHL 14? Isn't there an NHL 14 thread already?
