Stream FROM android?

So over next couple days I'm going to be unable to use my computer and want to stream movies in mp4 and MKV format to my tv using WD live. Is there a way to share files with an android to any other device on the same wifi, like windows shares?

Android runs on a Linux kernel so you can use apps that access Windows shares through Samba. I've only used them for transferring files however and don't know about streaming because I don't really do that.

Try the above program from the playstore. I haven't tried to use it with my WD but works fine with my other windows sharing of files, pics etc. Maybe worth a shot. Let me know if you try and works as it may also be a good way to shoot photos/videos up on the big screen instead of running it into the laptop first.
