Always thought I would like a job where I could do nothing and surf. Man, was I wrong. I swear the clock goes backward some days.
I just started at a new company and the work comes in spurts. Right now I don't have much to do and it's terrible. Worst part is I have to enter my time at the end of the day saying what I did. And I have to say I basically did nothing. Not a good feeling.

It'll pick up soon, I just hoped it was sooner.

I stop a safe distance behind the car in front of me (so I can read his license plate). If the car ahead gradually pulls ahead for some reason, as long as it's no more than a couple of car lengths I generally stay where I am. This is particularly true if I'm on my motorcycle or driving a standard-transmission vehicle. I see no point in inching ahead when the light is red unless, as I said, it's more than two car lengths. I hope you don't hate me.

Had a real bad one yesterday coming off Crowchild on to that weird double turn area to get on to 17 Ave. Waited three seconds, decent honk. Then ANOTHER three seconds. After that they got the 'continuous honk until you start moving' which got them going. Never had to get that far before.
I have a 2.3-second rule. I guess you're more patient than I am.

My pet peeve regarding voicemails is one I've run into several times recently.

I'll call a client, and leave a voicemail explaining exactly what the situation is and what I need. Sometime later the person calls back, and simply says "You called?"

Me: "Yes, did you listen to the voicemail I left you?"
Them: "No."

I hate when I remember to fast forward through a commercial break just as the commercial break is ending. I end up having to rewind the show that I was trying to watch that I just fast forwarded through after having watched the commercials I was trying to avoid.

Can't stand it when people send an email, then immediately phone you asking "did you get my email"?

Wouldn't the term 'title' imply that (almost) every word should be capitalized?

If the voicemail is longer than 10 seconds I promptly end it and just call the person. Ain't nobody got time for that

"Those" players in rec sports leagues GMG

My summer sport is Ultimate, which has one golden rule: If there's a rules/line/foul dispute, someone says "contest" and the play usually backs up one step and we play on.

I called a foul tonight on my opponent which, looking back, was a borderline call. It didn't matter though since the foul had no impact on the end result of the play.

Instead of contesting the foul that didn't matter he blew a gasket. Our co-captain attempted to settle the dispute by simply citing the rule that he can contest, but that it didn't matter... the play was over and the foul call didn't matter at all.

Our opponent (and it was just the one player on their team) escalated the issue further and eventually ended with "I'll f***ing punch you in the mouth if you say one more word"

It ruined an incredible game. Up until that point the game had been really fun and super competitive.

Rec sports are serious business :/

Almost every and every aren't the same though, right?

Almost all is acceptable, it's when The and A etc are capitals it starts to look a little funky.

How a city of a million people can have an at grade rail crossing with a major artery. Oh, and then have CP send a 100 car train going 15 km/h in rush hour. I'm looking at you, Glenmore.

I don't always travel to the SE. But when I do, I'm reminded why I don't.

Same here. I have to track all my hours (billable to clients)...when I have 6 hours of "In Office Time"...ummmm...

Don't mind this job but again, another gig ruined by a controlling boss who can't let others do things. Really have no idea why he hired me and then he goes and hires someone else who sits around with me??? I either get a boss like this or a boss that is a micro-manager. Both RGMG's.
