If Iginla actually wants a cup I think he will regret this move. Colorado will be good but there are to many good teams in the West. Don't see them winning in next 3 years but you never know.

Good for him to get the longer term for his family but not sure how he will fit with a run and gun bunch of flyers on the Avs.
Boston i think will prove to have been a better hockey fit but happy for Iggy though.

Iginla has made 80 million. I don't think baby needs a new pair of shoes.
He sold his legitimate shot at the Cup for cash. Which is fine, and no one should have expected different from him

How so? There is no such thing as a guaranteed Cup.
The Avs may well have a cup-contending team in the next few years.

How can you not think Colorado has a legit shot? They're very clearly on a massive upswing as their rebuild is complete.

Boston would have given him a better shot at the Cup as opposed to Colorado. Add to that the East is weaker than the West and Colorado faces much tougher competition to get to the Cup finals.

I think the 'for his family' line means that it is nice for a family with young kids to have stability rather than to move once a year. And I'd put Boston's chances for the cup to be better in year one, but year 2 and 3 of this deal could pay off huge for Iggy. I hope he gets it.

False. They couldn't have given him a shot at all because of their salary cap troubles. It's pretty easy to take a cup favourite and just suggest he should have went there but the fact is teams like Boston, Chicago, LA etc etc are all up against the cap and unable to add a winger that would command even a moderate price tag right now.

He wasn't going to get 30 in 2012-13 playing with Tanguay ( 9 goals in 31 games)

I'm not so sure.
He led the Bruins in scoring and was hated on by fans for his value vs salary.
II'm worried he will be that guy times ten now
|
Haha, only "some" fans, just like here. Most loved having him and reading responses from many different Boston fans on many sites, it seems to be a mixed bag, but more are going to miss him than not. Don't be so bitter, he's a good guy, good role model, and if they could have, Boston would have kept him.

If you take injuries out of the equation, that's not that far off a 30 goal pace especially with how the two of them tend to be cold and then red hot.
Colorado is all offence and has a lot of young creative dynamic players. It would be silly to conclude he can't score 30 there.

In the 3 year range? I don't necessarily think so. I can easily see Colorado being a better team than Boston over the course of Iggy's contract.

How do you see them getting 2 top pairing defenseman in the next 3 years?

To be fair, he's only gotten 30 goals in a season 12 times or something like that.

I agree that 3 years was not something the Bruins would offer. Frankly 3 years is too risky based on Iginla's age and declining foot speed.
I'm disappointed he didn't take less money and term to stay in Boston. He was an excelent fit on the top line and the Bruins grinding style of game.
Colorado could become a better team but they would have to get past any of Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Anahiem and San Jose to reach the finals. In the East it's a heck of alot easier for Boston with all the best teams being in the West.
