They're paying him almost $10M over 3 years to play here. No wonder he's happy.

I think you misread what I said, I said it seems like a very safe signing.

No thank you! Again, I hope he does have an amazing character... especially if he embraces the way the Flames played last season, I would be a very happy fan. For now, its a wait and see(and wish him all the best).

Raymond is a good player. Very fast and very smart. Shaking my head at some of the descriptions of him on CP today, but I guess we'll see.

Its interesting how the guy couldn't find a team to sign with and had to take a tryout with the Leafs.
Then he basically turned a hot start and a bunch of points early into a 3 year deal worth almost $10million...to a team he supposedly wanted to go to all along?

Probably just nitpicking as this won't hurt the Flames but Raymond did really well here.

I thought Mason Raymond was going to sign here last year. Must have been tough for him to turn down such a generous offer from the Flames.
In the end, I'm okay with having him here, he can put up some points which the Flames will need after losing Cammalleri.

Living in Vancouver I've watched a lot of Raymond and am happy with this signing. He won't replace Cammy's offence, but he'll bolster our PK and help raise our team speed as a serviceable 2nd/3rd liner. His game is a bit soft, but insisting on skating off the ice with a broken back in the cup finals is about as manly (and stupid) as it gets. Him rushing the puck up ice and letting Granlund or Monahan pull the trigger could be a dangerous combo.

I wanted him on the team last year as it was a 'feel good story'. This year, I am surprised the Flames targeted him. He is fairly soft.
However, you need a bit of scoring (which he can offer). He reminds me a lot of Lombo - loads of speed but with hands that don't always connect. However, term and money are fine, and is just another depth move in the lineup. I don't really see an issue with this signing at all. Adds good speed to a team that is already decently fast, and he is a hard-worker.

Happy for him and his family that he finally got a contract on the Flames! His family has done quite a lot in Alberta, and it is nice to see the Flames add another quality individual to their organization.

Raymond will especially bring his a game vs Van and Edm. Smart move by the Flames on a fast good skater that proved he has a touch for putting the puck in the net. Really good on the fore check will help the Flames in that area.
