We don't do that here anyways.

Better signing then Pouliot.

I don't mind this deal and we do need to reach the floor, plus he adds some offense.

Didn't know he can play RW, if that's the case then put me in the "liking it" camp.

And in T.O. Look up the tic tac to play with him and Bolland last year. Right side he came down from.

1. 3.2 Mil is not a lot of money if he brings what he's brought so far in his career
2. I miss Lombardi, happy to have Raymond
3. He can play both wings. Much stronger on LW, but he can be utilized on both
4. All of the LWs everyone's upset about him taking time from aren't NHL proven prospects yet. Throwing Gaudreau into a 1st line situation is very Oily. Make him earn it, and give ourselves proven wingers to play the position until he earns it.

Great fit.

signing Raymond doesn't mean that we won't try to sign Vrbata. Still have to spend around 8m to get to the floor I believe.

Raymond is an established NHLer that brings speed, goal scoring and PK ability. He also brings it on a great term, 3 years, that is exactly what we want for UFA's right now. In three years this team will be competitive again and until then we don't need that cap room. In fact, until then we need to make the cap floor so we don't have to forfeit valuable draft picks.

Nothing wrong with this signing, if the young guys out play him then he will be on the fourth line/press box. Hartley isn't scared to demote players that just aren't earning it/buying into the system, we saw it last year.

Our fanbase is basically (and perhaps appropriately) the anti-Oilers. We hate everyone who is on our roster, then fall in love with those who leave.

I don't understand why everyone is concerned about the young kids not making the team because of mason Raymond, if they are good enough they will be there, it is a long summer lots of moves to come. It is a good position to be in if we have to many guys fighting for nhl jobs, allows the flames to move players for assets at different positions.

Our current RW: Hudler, Colborne, Jones, McGratten.

Not saying he wouldn't be on the RW but we're more or less 'set' unless we bring in a true RW like Vrbata.

LW: Raymond, Glencross, Bollig/Bouma

There is a top 9 spot available if Bouma takes the 4th C spot.

Not sure how you can say he is overpaid when Bolland just got 5.5 x 5.

I am not a huge Raymond fan. But we lost Galiardi, Byron, and Cammalleri. He wants to play in Calgary. And the term is right. Not much to hate here.

Doesn't Raymond play a pretty soft game? I guess he adds some speed and scoring.

Mason Raymond >>> Paul Byron

I really think this is why we didn't resign Byron. If we didn't have a chance for an upgrade on Byron, we would have signed him.

Overall, this contract is pretty good, considering this guy can guarantee us 35-50 points.

I can see him getting 20G's-20A's, so a 40 point player that is only 600k more than Glencross is worth it.

Masonraymond. I guess he's still in the NHL then. Huh.

Sounds like he's been doing okay.

Well okay.

This signing does, however, leave 1 less spot for Gaudreau/Beartschi/Reinhart/Granlund. And Im not sure how I feel about that. Can we move David Jones to make room?

Yes, I know that. All I'm saying is that I hope the Flames can somehow sign Vrbata as well.

Cammalleri pre-all star game 2013-14

41 13 8 21 -22

Raymond

60 16 19 35 -1

When the leafs were in contention he was a contributor.

Hate getting a small softer guy to replace Cammalleri.... but Cammalleri was mailing it in until he was snubbed at the trading deadline.
