Good riddance. So glad we didn't buckle and offer him the same deal, he simply isn't worth more than 3 years. Bet his motivation will be tested if they have a couple of bad seasons. Quite pleased we got the waster away from us tbh.

The Flames are a LONG way from competeing for a playoff spot when you look at the West.

Best of luck to Cammy, but it was clear he didn't want to be here anymore and I don't think the Flames would have offered anything near that term. Enjoy the "garden state" on what is probably your last big contract.

Yeah, a little too much for the Flames plans right now. I would argue it's even less the money and more the term.
Woulda loved to keep him around for the kids coming in, but not at that contract.
Good luck Cammi!

5m and 5 years. Lmao it's not about the money right Cammy. It's all about the money. Lou just signed a large buyout in 2 years.

I would be shocked if after the Worlds Gaudreau doesn't make the Flames out of camp but
Hudler Monahan colbourne
Glencross Backlund/Stajan and ?
leaves 1 spot open on the top 6 - Granlund/ Baertschi/David Jones are better options than Stempniak was to complete the top 6.

thought the question was about a championship, not getting out of a flaccid division. Flames have a better base for winning imo. Cammi does little to change that. Nj is miles ahead is an absurd statement especially how that franchise has been run recently.

Frankly, I thought he gave a lot of lip service and just talked in circles about potentially staying with the Flames. He got his final pay day in both term and dollar amount. Good luck elsewhere.

Cammy went from being the grizzled old Veteran on the Flames to an average aged player on the Devils.

The way he started to play after the trade deadline, the cynic in me suspected that he didn't expect that he'd still be with the Flames and began playing for his next contract. Always assumed he'd be gone and I'm pleased that he is.

Burke's biggest mistake in his short tenure as GM. Getting nothing for a player who has value and wasn't staying..

Ummm...you have to make the playoffs before you have a chance to compete for a cup. NJ is MILES closer to doing because of the division/conference they reside in that than anything Calgary can claim at this point. So yes....NJ is much much closer to competing for the prize than Calgary at this point which is what the question was. Its not even debateable.

Don't really like the fit for Cammalleri, I don't see what he hopes to accomplish with that team over the next few years. Good luck to him though.

Sad day. We will miss you, Cammy. Best of luck in NJ!
It's fine, though, as it was your last chance for a big payday, and we couldn't offer 5 years.

Yes that 3rd rounder he could have "maybe"gotten at the deadline will haunt the Flames for some time.
