I'd Lobby for Kulemin being a good fit on a longer term. His shelf life should make him useful until he's 32-33.
Raymond is kind of a coin flip, it'd be a no brainer to offer up a three+ year term to him if you knew you were getting the Mason Raymond that played for the Leafs last season over the Mason Raymond that played his way off of the Canucks prior.

UFA-wise I'm hoping we can take a chance on a couple of reclamation projects in addition to trying to land a big fish or two.
We should be looking for one or two RWers (Vrbata, Havlat, Santorelli, Setoguchi, Skille etc) one or two defencemen (Niskanen, Orpik, Stoner, McBain, MDZ, T.J. Brennan, Matt Gilroy, Ryan Whitney) and a goalie (Justin Peters, Al Montoya, Anders Lindback, Thomas Greiss)

Of that list I would be happy giving a chance to Setoguchi and Orpik. I think they both could help out in some key needs and could re-find their respective games with Hartley.

There's a chance we could still sign him if he doesn't get what he wants from other teams.

Raymond was reasonably effective for the Canucks until he broke his back or whatever that was. I like Raymond but am biased.
I'd be happy with Kulemin. His size is probably more in tune with what the Flames are after than Raymond is. Played a shutdown role for leafs... if anyone on that team actually does? Assuming they get what they think they are getting, I'd be happy with a longer term here

I'd prefer Downie over Kulemin personally.
My wishlist:
D-Niskanen, Fayne, Stralman, McBain, Del Zotto
F-Vanek, Stastny, Moulson, Downie, Setoguchi

Jarome Iginla will test free agency for the second straight year, Sportsnet has learned.
and
Eric Engels @EricEngels 59s
The Canadiens have expressed their interest in UFA Jarome Iginla.

I get the feeling the flames will sign Cammy and make a trade for another big contract. They might pick up a 4/5 Dman in free agency but not expecting any big things

“@DarrenDreger: Robidas' agent, Pat Brisson says the demand for the veteran d-man is overwhelming. At least 8 teams interested. List cut down tonight.#TSN”
“@DarrenDreger: Robidas is looking for a 2-3 year term. Leg is fine. He's skating and is expecting to be ready to go for training camp. #TSN”

I doubt he goes to MTL. They have little chance of winning the cup soon, the taxes are way higher than other places and I doubt he speaks French. I could see him on the Ducks if Selanne is actually done this time.

I was happy with seto until I saw him play for us this year. Really lazy and just didn't seem that great of a player. I don't think the flames would want him.

T.J. Brennan is a really interesting project... 72 points and AHL defenceman of the year. Never had a fair shake of the stick in T.O.
Fits into Hartley's ethos of mobile, puck moving D men. Huge shot which would be a good weapon on the PP. Only 6', 214lbs so will probably be entirely overlooked by the Flames, but I think he'll land somewhere in the NHL.

Yeah, what an odd way to phrase that. The Flames could have easily offered him 4 or 5 years, but they chose not to do so.
I'm glad for that. I thought 3 years was the max they should have offered, even if it meant paying more.

Please not to the Ducks. I'd rather not have to watch Iginla play with Kesler. And I could not cheer for him in the playoffs with that loser on the same team.

I am not sure if the Flames are going to be busy during the Free Agency Frenzy. If they sign free agent, i think they will sign a defenseman and a goalie or maybe a forward but not a big salary guy. As far as Cammalleri is concerned, they might offer them a little more (overpayment), only question is if Cammy would want to play in a rebuilding team. I don't like our chances of Cammy re-signing with the Flames.
Not sure how Treliving feel about the free agency but I know Brian Burke is not into free agency. He even went to Europe one season while with Toronto before July 1st and stayed there for a bit.

by my count, even if we sign bouma/colborne for about a million bucks each, we're still looking at about 8-9 million short of the floor.
if cammalleri signs, we can assume he would be an additional ~5.5-6 million, so would have another 3 million we'd need to spend likely on a dman and backup goalie.
If cammalleri doesn't sign, we probably need to start hunting down some heavy FAs to get to the floor. Could get interesting, with how many teams are looking to buy this UFA period, as well as a team like buffalo who have a ways to get to the floor.
