Did he grab the facemask though? You are allowed to do that as far as I know from the rules.
By "do that" I mean tackle the head. There have been numerous examples of that already this game

It was vicious, he new exactly what he was doing, a punching motion/clothesline, Dirty retaliation for a clean Lewis hit.
