Don't think so. Another year at juniors and WJC will be great for him.

Unlikely.

He's a young player for this draft and while he plays strong he still needs to fill out. The best route for him is to go back to the OHL and play in the World Juniors for Canada. Factor in Burke's history and Trelivings quotes about being patient and not rushing prospects, think well see him returned to junior

No way the Flames get McDavid. I don't think Buffalo's tank job is over yet, and you're likely to see a fringe team like Washington or New Jersey throw a season away for a shot at him. Either that or with the draft rules changing he'll conveniently find himself on one of the big US market teams

So does Bennett get #93? Does Burke make him take a lower number? Is Doug Gilmore's #39 low enough for Burke?

Hope so ... at least 39. That policy is so silly.

I did the "Donovan Bailey sprint" screamed like a school girl and shed a tear. Haven't been this excited in a long time. Although I was pretty stoked at the prospect of having some of the best hockey nicknames on a team. Johnny Hockey/God-row, Moneyhands, Duetchland Dangler? We'll have to anoint Bennet with a worthy nickname. Killer is definitely a good fit lol.

Did very well in the OHL's coaches poll (Eastern Conference). The most points you can receive is 45.

Smartest player: Sam Bennett (39 points), 2nd place was Scott Laughton (25 points)

Best playmaker: Sam Bennett (41 points), 2nd place was Michael Dal Colle (16 points)

Best stick handler: Sam Bennett (37 points), 2nd place was Michael Dal Colle (21 points)

This hasn't really sunk in yet. We got one of "those guys" ... the game breakers that everyone talks about. Someone in the mix for 1st overall in the rankings. This is awesome.

Yeah, I had Bennett at 1st overall for a long time now, my gushing has been well documented, didn't think we'd have a legit shot at him.

Weird knowing that players my age are past their prime, and kids being drafted today were born when I was starting high school.

I feed old as ish also.

Reinhart was my hope, but it's like Lindholm/Monahan last year. I had a preference for one, but was going to be happy with either. Reinhart and Bennett were both over Ekblad for me.

Now looking at it, Reinhart and Monahan would have been awesome, but have more variance in the playstyles of Monahan and Bennett is probably going to end up being really awesome for us.

Just logged in and wow, I honestly thought Bennett sounded like the best forward in the draft.

Or the players you watch as a teen, early 20's collecting CPP.
