Oh the memories of debating Canucks fans on the virtue of Garrison and his contract when he was signed and throughout last year. In conclusion - we were right.

He was? I thought Canuck fans really liked him.

Yeah, I'd say Vancouver got a good deal too.

At least Vancouver is giving us something different to talk about. Kudos for that.

Have to give Benning credit. Unlike someone up north he never proclaimed he would make BOLD MOVES. He just went to work and made them. That team is going to look different next season. Probably not better but different.

Wow their roster looks bad...

H.Sedin
D.Sedin
...
...
...
Higgins?
Santorelli?
Matthias?
Kassian?

They'll have to win games 1-0 with that forward group, which is going to be awfully difficult considering Lack is their new #1.

They gonna be bad.

They're not clearing cap space; they already had massive amounts of cap space. Like 20M.

Garrison was really bad last year but still put up points, and the year before he was really good. Contract had potential to get pretty terrible in the future though.

Seems Benning wants to start over. Tampa still wins this, probably. So the Canucks have probably lost two trades today.

Can't, all the concession stand workers went the UFA route earlier this year.

How so? If they think Sbisa for Garrison is a straight swap then someone needs to check Benning's meds.

Garrison wasn't that bad in Vancouver was he?

He wasn't great last year (the whole team sucked under Tortorella) but in 12/13 he was good on a pairing with Hamhuis.

He still put up 33 points last year on a team that had a hard time scoring.

I bet this ends up looking like a steal for Tampa Bay next year

Give Benning credit getting rid of that contract. Still can't see how these picks would add up to first overall

How can this deal be awesome? It's a second round pick. This is a salary dump kind of deal. I am definitely surprised at the return.

right now we have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds though

its either a scorched earth or getting assets to make a big move

plus now we have a lot of cap space
