Rather than converse and tell me what he has an issue with, he just starts quickly walking to his house and yells something about the cops. Once he got to his front step he must have felt brave because that's when he turned around and started yelling at me. I mentioned that I was simply trying to have a neighbourly talk to fix this problem but he's yelling about how I don't actually want to fix anything and how he was calling the cops and all this crap. I said that if he'd simply asked me to move my truck I would have no issue doing it but he rabbled on and went inside.
This guy is a constant problem. I live in a pretty good neighbourhood (cranston), have no issues with anybody and get along with everyone on the block that I've met. This guy however does stuff just to be a dick. In front of our lawns there's a section between driveways and space on the road with enough space for two vehicles can park. He often parks in the middle of that effectively taking two spaces. If I'm home before him and park properly, sometimes he parks on the road blocking half my driveway with his car. He has space in his garage and on his driveway yet he does this, whereas I sold one of my cars so I'd have space to not have to park on the road anymore.
Anyway, I'd essentially had enough of his crap so I went and rang his doorbell to try and talk to him further. The way he answered, you'd think I just beat up his daughter or something, screaming at the top of his lungs. I tried a few times to ask him to talk calmly, he eventually yelled at me to get off his property, slammed the door, then quickly reopened it with bat in hand screaming some more. I walked away, I have a 3 year old inside, I don't need to be starting a brawl.
My neighbour across the street saw the whole thing and told me a few stories about how poorly she's seen him treat his daughter and a few other issues he's had with the neighbourhood.
This post got longer than I intended but feels good to write it down. I'm still annoyed because he seems like the type that would vandalize something of mine now. And a bit upset because his reaction was so over the top I can't help but feel I did something wrong without realizing it. So what do you think CP, am I an a-hole and just don't realize it? Or is he just mentally unstable like others on the block seem to think? Anything I should have done different?

^^ Well I think we all know the only reasonable thing now to do is take the law into your own hands. Time to teach this sucker a lesson.

That's the problem. Everyone gets cranky (pun actually intended) when they can't get home from downtown within 15 minutes as advertised by the developers

How close were you to his bike? If he could comfortably stand beside it to throw a leg over the left side and ride away, he's the a-hole. If not, he's still an a-hole, but he's not the only one.

I used to have a boss who would say "at the end of the day it is what it is" so often it started to sound brilliant to me.

Good on you for walking away. Him threatening you with a bat is over the top though. I know you're trying to be as nice as possible about this, but I think you should be having a conversation with the CPS.

It's stories like that, that make me happy I live in a country with gun controls.

btimbit, you just need to move to a community where neighbors treat each other right.
Like Edson, perhaps. In fact I know a place that's available soon.

I did Park closer than I usually would, this was in the spot I described later in the post where he parks right in the middle of the space, effectively taking two spots. But we're still talking feet, not inches.

We all hate bad driving but yesterday I saw something truly amazing. At 5pm, I saw a minivan driver make a right turn onto a one way street going the wrong way. This was a turn from 7th Street onto 5th Ave SW. Traffic was stopped at the lights at 8th Street and the driver actually made it all the way down the block (a long city block) from 7th to 8th Street before traffic started moving. When traffic started to come at the van through the intersection at 8th street the driver decided he/she needed to cut across the 4 lanes on 5th Ave to make a left turn onto 8th Street.
This was really a spectacle and some of the worst driving I have ever seen.

For some reason our office is notorious of using these phrases during meetings:
- We can't put the cart in front of the horse
- There are many ways to skin a cat
- You have to learn the tricks from the old dog
- We will cross that bridge when we get there, and many more...
I feel like I work in a farm!
