Default Ripping CD's Issue

I recently lost some of my mp3's on my computer when I accidentally deleted their Album files, I still have the CD's for them and want to rip them again but I can't seem to get that CDDB to work or my Windows Media Player to connect to the MSN which leads me to believe that it's something on my end. These are actual CD's not back-ups that I've burned so they should work and they have before in the past as well.

Any suggestions that don't involve me doing it manually?

There's a reason I keep a Windows 3.1 computer around. Good old "Sound Recorder" makes awesome .wav files.

How committed are you to WMP? I'd suggest using EAC to rip and for converting to mp3 (with the lame codec). It'll use freedb instead of cddb and is the best cd ripper you can use. Remember to use test/copy for guaranteed good rips.

Exact Audio Copy V0.95 beta 4:

The man speaks words of wisdom. EAC is probably the best ripper out there.

?
Soundrecorder is still in XP. Go to Run or a command prompt and type "Sndrec32"

And I too use EAC. Althoug even that won't rip my Rush Chronicles CD 1

Loaded Windows Media Player 11 Beta, it ****ed up my Computer. Used System Restore and put it back to a couple hours before. Not only did things work again to my amazement but my WMP problem seems to be fixed as well.

Right, but as soon as you put in an encrypted CD, you hit a roadblock.

The underlying issue is the way Windows 3.1 uses sound recorder. As soon as 95 came out, they offered a proper CD player. But in 3.1 CD's were an after though, and nobody had considered using a sound card to capture audio from a CD.

All I know is it works for me.

Ahhh, I get ya.

I just hold the shift key to prevent the DRM from being started when the disk spins up, and use EAC. I haven't been stopped yet.
