O well. I just woke up and hung over. I am not to concerned about it. If people want to be dicks and act like 14 year old bully's on a playground over words misspelled on a tiny phone they have the right to do so. It's the internet I can't stop them. What ever gets them through the day.

It's not bullying. It's just unavoidable that you are slowly losing your credibility as an authority on bicycles or bicycle technology when you write like a child and constantly claim that it is because you are posting in a drunk or hung-over state.
As far as e-bikes, I'd never ride anything like what combustiblefuel has, but I'm seeing some aluminium and carbon e-bikes on the market that look very attractive. I'd be interested in getting one of the models that looks more or less like a regular bike.
The Specialized Turbo has a hefty price tag but I can definitely see this as a tool to get you to those remote, uphill, and/or distant places that you might be hesitant to try biking to simply because of how tough the journey might be. There's a few places in the Rockies that I would love to be but don't necessarily want to struggle up a couple of mountains to get to first. It'd also be a nice commuter although there is really nothing challenging at all within city limits that a normal bike can't handle. This is definitely a purchase I will look at in the next couple of years as I (being a latte sipper) slowly stop driving altogether as much as possible.

Yeah maybe for about 12 seconds.
To support your claims, you must be able to match this output for 20-30 minutes at a time. Are you a cyborg?
I'll check in later, I need to get back to some of my ottomobeel clients.

Ya I like the turbo. I have rode one. Its has a nice feel for a p.a.s system. You'll have to make sure if you are In Alberta that you wear a motorcycle helmet on any ebike .
Ya I claim my spelling is bad because A) I do drink to much and I am working on that and B) I never actually pay attention enough to correct my mistakes.

If I was able to be putting out 1400 watts I would be going 30mph not 40kms . I can't do it. Around 100 watts with the right gear setup is around 40kms. Without my motor and electric equipment on my bike it does not weigh 55 lbs . Its 30 lbs. Its a semi recumbent position . When It was a pedal only bike It didn't have any fenders or overly heavy springer fork. It weighed as much as a Tadole style trike. The position and weight make it very easy to achieve 20mph plus for a long distance.

That is a decent looking bike; however, my thought is that if I can"t pedal or push my bike up it, then my bike does not belong there.....

My point is that there are remote places that you want your bike to get to in order to enjoy them but sometimes the path is too difficult to get there or you are reluctant to try to bike. Maybe you know you might make it there but you might not make it back again. An e-bike helps in that circumstance.
IE: there's a really cool scenic lake at the summit of a mountain with great bike trails but you have to either bike or hike up several kilometres of mountain to get there in the first place. That's where electric assist would encourage me to actually go. In that way I could actually enjoy the destination instead of being too tired once I got there.
Perhaps I want to visit my friend who lives at the opposite end of the city. Normally I would be inclined to drive because it might be a distance I was only confident of making a one-way trip on (and not the return) but if I had e-assist, I wouldn't be so hesitant to go.
It's a safety net for confidence and real-world safety so that you don't over-exert yourself and find yourself unable to get home again.

^^ I would worry about it dying or running out of energy on a hill, and being left peddling / walking a heavy bike up that hill.

It has a Regen Braking setup . That would help some power going back in. About 5 to 20% depending on the terrain.

I get the allure of the electric bike, but for $6,000 I could have a sweet mountain and road bike....anyways, despite the relative ease that this thing would climb hills, it would not be as fun going downhill as a full suspension mountain bike.......

The path is never too far away. Keep getting fitter and faster and ride there on the two bikes you can buy for the same money.

That is absolute BS!
Anyone who has done any riding with a power meter knows that there is absolutely no way that is a reasonable number.
On my freaking tri-bike which I can guarantee is a hell of a lot more aerodynamic and lighter than your bike, 100 W is nowhere near 40 kph.
For comparison, if you look at power files from some top triathletes (they are the cyclists I follow, so that's what I know about), at Kona in 2012 Pete Jacobs peak 20min power was 317 W. During that 20 minutes he rode at 43.7 kph.
So yeah, pretty sure you aren't keeping up with a guy on a bike that weighs 2/3 of what yours does, has tires that are 1/3 as wide, running at probably 2-3 times the pressure, and considering his position, is one of the most aerodynamic bikes on the road.
So yeah, saying you are averaging 40kph and basically just using that electric drive for hills is total BS.

That's really what kept me from buying a commercial build was the price. Its a much easier option of using a kit and building on a bike you like. Its cheaper and generally the kits are better for efficiency and range. Proprietary Electronic components on some thing like the Turbo S shoots the price of replacement parts up to ridiculous prices.

LOL, can you imagine how boss that would look. Some dude pacing triathletes on a recumbent chopper bike. Bonus points if it had a horn that played la cucaracha.
Imagine how fast combustible would be on a tri-bike? Easily in the 145 KPH range.

Weight has no effect on speed flat ground . No one once asked what elevation or what the terrian my daily commute is. Everyone just jumped on me for mentioning an average speed. Then again I never did either.
Edit: Pylon mentioned something on Flat ground . I didn't see that see that till now.

It matters on hills, which you said was the only part you really needed/used the electric drive for.
But fine, take the weight out of it if you want, and you're still claiming to be able to keep up with a world class athlete, who is riding on tires that are 1/3 the width and 2-3 times the pressure, and is a hell of a lot more aero.
So now are you gonna tell me why rolling and air resistance to matter?

Just quoting for posterity.
As I've pointed out, if you can actually do this, you need to get on a road bike call the UCI.
Don't worry, I'm sure any pro team would be happy to supply you with all the steel bikes you want. No need to ride on carbon or aluminum when you're rocking numbers like this.
