960 had Rob Ray on this morning talking about the draft.
He eliminated the Sabres moving up as they're patient, and suggested they have no need for defensemen because of last year's draft.
His only mention of a forward was Bennett, which I found interesting.
Ray is an ex Sabre and a radio guy ... not hockey mgmt in Buffalo or necessarily an insider, but you have to wonder if that's a hint of where Buffalo is going.
If so then you have Ekblad gone to Florida or likely to a team that acquires that pick, Bennett to Buffalo and Edmonton on the clock with hints of Draisaitl.
As many of us have said, Reinhart looking more and more likely.

Their D prospect list isn't the best in the NHL but it's closer to the top than the bottom. And it's better than ours.
IMO, their biggest need is C and especially a C with size.

I would rather we got Bennett than Reinhart, but if it's either one, I will be ecstatic (and it is feeling more and more like it's going to be Reinhart)

I get the same feeling. Unless Reinhart falls to the Oilers and they want to stick it the Flames by not letting us have the brothers on the same team.

That would be the stupidest idea to pick Reinhart, but it's Edmonton. I'd rather be safe and pick the big Draisaitl than pick a prospect because he has a brother on the Flames.

Not even the Oilers would use that as a reason to draft someone.
I think of the top 4, Reinhart is the least likely player that the Oilers would opt for - he is simply too much like the other players on the team.
I know he is a more complete player than RNH, but at the end of the day, they are too much alike to build a team around them.

I see it playing out that way. Bennett seems like a eart and soul player and I really think Buffalo covets that. They can afford to be patient so he is a good fit there.
I think if Florida were to move the pick to say Vancouver then I see the Nucks taking Reinhart first overall. The local kid and dynamic centre fits their needs perfectly. Florida still has a great chance at Nylander with the 6th pick.
If that is the case I could see it going Reinhart, Bennett, Ekblad leaving the flames Draisaitl. I really hope Florida keeps the pick and takes Ekblad as I see a great chance for the flames to end up with a Sam if that's the case

I think that it would be bad news for the Flames if Florida trades their pick (and it seems quite possible).
Many of the primary candidates covet a C. If Florida's pick went to a team that took a C, then the top 2 picks would both be Cs, leaving Ekblad to the Oilers and us being left with Draisaitl (worst case scenario).
I think that if Florida trades their pick, the Flames go hard after Buffalo's pick - and Buffalo should be open to the idea because the Flames likely take Ekblad and then the Oilers take Draisiaitl, leaving Buffalo with the same player they would have taken at #2

For my money, that is the best case scenario that could possibly happen in this draft. I want Reinhart over Bennett or Draisaitl and we arent getting Ekblad without giving up assets anyway.

I had to pick Leon.
Guy looks like a beast!
If he and the Wolf are on the Flames and dominate somehow someway????
I just want a Lucic type player on the team...minus the cheapshots....that guys worry about.
Ill take either......I just want another tough, big, threat on this team.
Grats cAnnot play forever.....also add leadership.
Brian's a leader, beast......add whatever else.....glad he's a Flame.

While that's certainly a possibility, I'm not sure about you but have no problem with the prior scenario if we can't move up. If Florida trades out and subsequent team and Buffalo draft the Sams and Edmonton Ekblad leaving us with Draisaitl? I've warmed up to Leon considerably of late and wouldn't be disappointed in the slightest to be adding a big, high end playmaking center to our lineup.
Edmonton would ruin Ekblad by the end of next season and we would enjoy their most coveted forward.

If Draisaitl is a worst case scenario, I like our worst case scenario if it occurs. Draisaitl picked at #4 after the other 3 would be just fine with me.

Yeah it's like when my kids are disappointed that they have to have only chocolate cake because the double chocolate cake was sold out. Anyone of the top four will fit into our core for a long time. If Draisaitl turns anything into a Kopitar I won't be mad.

Well, this one is obviously decided. Maybe a poll on whether the Flames stay at four, or move the pick? Some options could be move up to #1, or trade the pick to Anahiem for there two firsts.

Or keep the 4th and add an extra 1st round pick (the 5th, for example).

In this scenario, Buffalo should get Reinhart at 2 or 4.
Given that, what might it cost the Flames to move from 4 to 2?
