Other then Hughson I assume, does Sportsnet have anyone lined up to call games next year? It'll be a shame if they just get regional calls to call every game, no matter who is involved up through the playoffs, and including the finals. I don't want to hear the Leafs broadcasters calling games in the finals, just so they can save a few bucks.

In Florida, Buffalo, or Edmonton? Nah, won't happen. It's more likely he'd be Erik Johnson 2.0 in that situation.

Isn't that pretty much going to be their mantra now? "We got this for 12 years, so f it"
And yes, Miller and Cuthbert both re-upped with TSN. Rick Ball perhaps is another one Sportsnet could get?

Cole is 100% on tonight. Other than a little delay on the goal call for one of the Kings goals, he's been sharp.

That has always been Bob Cole's gift. The only contemporary announcer who comes close is Cuthbert (IMO).

It's because he's so old school, he's still in the "paint a picture" style of Foster Hewitt and such. He describes the feel of the game as well as the action.
Gonna miss him.

Top 3 D in the league? Doubt it, but I guess you never know.
edit: Unless you mean style instead of calibre.

Bob Cole and Harry Neal calling cup finals was amazing in their heyday. I know Neal went to poo but I'm glad they kept Cole on ice until the playoffs.

My favorite call of Bob Cole was in a Flames game against some team that I can't remember in a game that I don't remember when it was played. All I remember was that there was a giveaway to Iggy and he had a clear breakaway.
"And a turnover by _______, to Iginla of all people!!"
I just remember as a huge fan of Iggy having a legend say that about your favorite player on a national stage was really cool.

I can remember that call and it was either the Sharks breakaway in the WCF where he slid it under Nabakov, or the Lightning SCF you speak of when he got his own rebound and tucked it in past Khabibulin.

I agree on Doughty
Don't want to beat a dead horse however I believe Doughty is easily the best D in the NHL.
He proved it in the Olympics and now.
Still a young guy....not even in his prime probably.
He has 9 shots on goal tonight and shutting down Toews.

Doughty isn't even 24 years old yet. He seems much older than that. He won't his his prime for a few years yet.

Imagine throwing a Johnny Gaudreau into the game now with all those tired defenders.

This pace is amazing. Love both of these teams.
It's been forever since the last whistle.

I came just to say this.
But we've experienced Flames OT before.
