Kinda odd. To each their own but I honestly have no resentment towards any Tampa player from that team. I can understand it but never even thought about it over the last ten years.

It's not like they played dirty. It was a fair series between two good teams. Disliking a player just because he was on the opposite team 10 years ago is silly.

Yeah, I guess Sarich gets a pass.
Torts is a blowhard and I can't stand him.

As with any other rivalry, there's still an abundance of residual hatred for some of us when it comes to that Tampa team. They played a great series, but it was far from fair as far as I'm concerned. No different than hating each and every Oilers player in my book

Well, if it weren't fair, it would be more on the ref / system (lack of video review), rather than the Tampa team itself. I myself don't like St. Louis because of his "me first" attitude, nothing to do with the 2004 series.

Can you imagine the TV numbers if it's a LA/NYR final though? anything other than a sweep would likely bring a record and would be great for the league.

I still think Chicago/NYR would have better ratings.

Emelin needs to tone down the head whips, or he's going to end up on IR with a strained neck.

Yup. LA may have the larger metro, but there are more hockey fans in Chicago, and the Hawks have more fans outside of their immediate market by virtue of being original six.

Either one will be huge for the NHL. But to get a LA And Rangers on the heels of a Chicago Boston series is a ratings dream.

Many reasons to dislike both teams. Tiebreaker to be considered though is how annoyed canucks fans are that they fired AV and "traded" him for torts and now AV has a real good shot at the SCF.

Imagine, AV being in the SCF right after the Canucks fired him could drive some Canucks fans to have heart attacks. And, if he actually win it all, could potentially drives those in Van to have another riot! And that, might tip my scale in cheering for the Rangers.
ummm...second thought, no....they can go to the SFC and lose to the Kings

Add in the diving, the Ole Ole's, pretty boy Bergevin, the fact that they are a Canadian team, and we'd have to watch endless CBC montages and stories from oldtimers...ugh, no thanks.
I'm not a Rangers fan either, but in this series, you can bet your balls there is a lesser evil.

I think one of the funniest things I've read on this board was whoever posted the line "They celebrated their 100th year anniversary for 3 years."
So descriptive, so succinct.

They didn't play dirty, I'll grant you that but it wasn't a fair series. The puck crossed the line!

The similarity of his OT winners is that he put both opposing teams on the brink of elimination. You just had to bring up his game 6 winner, ruined the night.

That's what passion and resentment in sports and being a fan of a team are all about, it never goes away. He hates the team that ripped the hearts of many Flames fans. Same thing applies to the bleeping Oilers, 1986 Habs, 1994 Canucks and 1995 Sharks. Wished them all nothing but misery.
