This "bust" is so laughable it's not even funny. Like others have said, the majority of the drugs seized was marijuana. Every player in this city who is making lots of money in the game is doing it off coke, mdma, etc, not a bit of weed on the side.
This will make no dent whatsoever to anyone in the game of any significance.

Does this mean that all the officers involved in this operation worked on this single operation for every minute of these 5 week shifts?

Everyone freaking out over the minimal amount of drugs involved in this operation- yes, I'm sure all of those charged were contributing and decent members of society and not the kind prone to violent crime. The fact that this bust involved a bunch of petty thugs that probably don't have the means of acquiring a massive volume of narcotics doesn't change the fact that they were engaged in illegal activity and certainly would be in the business of distributing mass quantities if they had the means. I'm glad that they are now looking at facing jail time, or at the very least being more closely monitored by the police from here on. Despite what your typical police movie or tv shows tells you, the police probably don't bypass or ignore street level distributors in hopes of nailing the supposed "kingpin".

	No it doesn't.

Most of them probably had a small amount of drugs on them, were asked if they had any and then sold a tiny amount to someone.

I bet a lot of them had no intentions of being a "drug dealer". Go to a rave and see how often your asked for drugs. It's very possible that someone has extra or decides they don't want to do any and sells what they brought for themselves to someone who asks.

Not saying that they didn't engage in "illegal activity" but to celebrate what equates to the drug equivalent of a speeding ticket is ridiculous. ESPECIALLY cause they invested 5 weeks of resources to do it.

CPS should be flat out embarrassed.Quote:

I read this bust as those amounts of drugs were sold to undercover officers, not the amount these people all had or had access to.

I worked at a concrete plant on the east side of town years ago and would see the hells angels house on a regular basis. Dozens of people would gather around a certain house, if the cops want to make a dent they should go after those guys, they must have more drugs there than nearly anywhere else.

I assume you are refering to the one out near Shepard Road and Glenmore?

If so that has been gone for years and years.

How would you even be able to prove intent to distribute with amounts that small?

They are sophisticated, and many levels removed from the transactions. Underlings do all the dirty work, and are kept in line by intimidation.

			Now the streets are safe.
I feel more comfortable rollerblading in East Village at night

***The Real Question is, what sort of repercussions might we see as a result of the huge crime sweep?
Remember the "Dent act" in "The Dark Knight? Rises" remember when Batman took down Falcone and cleaned up the streets in "The Dark Knight"? The criminal gangs will turn to Bane and or the Joker.****

In my experience 99% of weed dealers sell weed just so they can smoke for free.

Chances are they brought in all these small level dealers to get them to talk so Police can find out who is in charge.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure police didn't list these guys publicly and use it as a "get to the top" operation. Unless the Calgary Police are now in the business of trying to get it's citizens murdered.
This was likely a pure "let's clean up the streets of the unsavouries" operation.
