Refs should have called the 5 minute major for interference, which has nothing to do with head contact. I really cant believe they all missed seeing it. Prust should get at least a game, maybe two. Cheap dirty hit.

Haha. That's awesome that you're quoting Fraser now, when it suits your purpose.
It was a brutal hit. How two referees could miss it is incompetence at its finest

Of course, if Subban had been caught with the same hit and reacted the same way, the same people calling for Prust's head now would be calling the hit clean and would never let us forget about Subban "milking the hit."

Same as it ever was, I guess.

Edit - Alain Vigneault said in his press conference that Prust deserved a penalty, and that's it. Must be a Habs homer.

Isn't that the point? Was I supposed to quote him for something which didn't suit my purpose when there is nothing that he said otherwise about the hit?

Call me crazy, but to me it looks like the last piece of Galchenyuk to touch the puck was the cuff of his glove. Should this have been disallowed?

Only if he punches it in intentionally.

Jarome Iginla scored a goal vs St Louis a few years ago while knocked down on the ice where the puck goes straight off his glove and in but he had no idea the puck was even coming and the goal counted.

67.6 Disallowed Goal - A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck with his hand into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck and it is deflected into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official. When the puck enters the net on a clear deflection off a glove, the goal shall be allowed.

Love reading all the tweets about how Carcillo did nothing wrong and should've hit the linesman harder (or worse). I guess the nation's care workers are otherwise occupied.

Same kind of thing popping up on everyone's favourite hockey board, but I'm far less surprised about that.

Habs are turing into the Cinderella team of these playoffs.

Well they did actually finish higher in the standings than the Rangers. No one should have expected this to be a sweep, even after Price went down. Them winning one or two games shouldn't be seen as a surprise at all.

Thanks... I think

All garbage goals. Horrible first period for the Habs. Prust needs to use his head, he's in dangerous territory. His hits are ill advised or borderline cheapshots these days.

glad to see Galchenyuk get the winner. Also glad for Tokarski, he was the one Canadien that deserved a win last night. They've got some momentum, but they need their abysmal offense to get going.

Powerplay has to produce for Habs to have any real chance, one would think. Special teams was a huge factor versus Bruins.
Tokarski was outstanding. Gutsy move by Therrien - and I guess the right one.

This rule is so inconsistent. Ryan Smyth directs to the net with his chest against Calgary just this past season I believe and the goal was allowed.

Just about anything besides a glove or a skate will get a pass without review.

Huh? A major penalty can be called even if there is no contact to the head, especially on interference calls.

Majors are called when there's an injury on the play. There wasn't.

Since when are majors only called when there is an injury? And even if that were the case, the officials have to assume there is an injury when Stepan is down for a long time and leaves the game. They didn't know he would be fine.

A phone hearing has been scheduled for Prust for this afternoon.

At least he doesn't need to walk down the street to NHL HQ.

False. Majors can be assessed for a number of reasons and aren't subject to injuries.

A game misconduct or match penalty however are imposed when a player is injured and those can carry with them a major penalty.

Quote:
41.3 Major Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a major penalty, based on the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, to a player guilty of boarding an opponent (see 41.5).

41.4 Match Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent by boarding.

41.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed.

Sucks because he is a good spark plug for that team.

Imo it was a late hit.

1 game susp.

So apparently there was a penalty in that game..?

For anyone who watched the whole game, I'm curious: It looks like this was a bit of a flash in the pan stolen game by Tokarski (sp?) Do habs looks like they have a chance at mounting anything serious, or were they bailed out in this one?
