The people that I know at EA have also told me that EA gives the NHL team a stingy budget so that doesn't help.

Considering how many hours in a day I put into FIFA and I'm not even a football fan, cannot wait to completely obsess over NHL15.

If only they could merge eastside hockey manager and the ea series, I'd be happy. All the off ice management stuff I want, combined with great gameplay...I'd buy a new system for that alone.

Same here. Well maybe not the only reason, but the main one. Incidentally also the main reason I had a 360.

I actually know 3 people who are waiting for NHL to buy a PS4. This game is an intense mistress.

Yep, it wasn't the first game I owned for the 360 but as soon as I saw the trailer for it I bought a 360 and Fight Night to hold me over. And that was the first console I owned since the Genesis.

that skillstick on the next gen of the time was the core reason i made the jump from my ps2. I went xbox360 simply due to price.

Unless you love Halo I would suggest a PS4.

E3 starts in about a month. The news from that will probably help with your decision. I was a Microsoft guy last generation, but Sony seems to be doing all the right stuff this time around.

I have nothing to add except I'm very, very excited. I also have a question. How is the jersey customization/team creation in NHL14 compared to NHL11? How easy would it be for me to create a team, substitute them for another team (Phoenix maybe? Haha), and have all the players from Phoenix be free agents?
I want to create a Seattle team with the best available free agents at the time, release all the other players into free agency, and start building from absolute scratch. I also want to create some wicked jerseys.
I'm hoping I will have enough time to wrote up press releases and all that fun noise.

Naughty Dog makes games for Sony. That's the main reason I picked a PS4 over an XB1.

I don't recall the team creation/customization options changing at all in the last handful of years, so I would expect it would be incredibly similar (if not the complete same) to NHL 11.

Ballocks. I was hoping they'd at least add more jersey/logo options.

My one hope for NHL15 is them adding custom masks, or at least 10-20 team masks per team. I'm so sick of the same 3 masks for the Flames over the past 8 years. I miss the PC version so you could mod the crap out of the goalie gear.

Christ some of you guys have the strangest wishes for this game... goalie masks? Really, that's your one hope? That's the one thing you'd change about this series? I don't get it.

Yes, NFL 2K5 on the original Xbox is still the best football game ever made. EA only innovates and thrives with competition. NFL 2K5 was the last NFL game that was not exclusive to EA Sports. Heading back to the NHL, until the innovation of the Skill Stick, the NHL 2K series was better than EA's offerings. The goalie cam and control was awesome in the XBox 360's first hockey game.
EA's offerings sucked until they introduced the skill stick. That skill stick innovation changed everything and yet seems so dated now.
In the end the whole thing needs a reboot. The current "engine" has been around since when, NHL 07 on the Xbox 360? It's tired and old now. The same announcers and phrases have been heard for long enough....

to each their own.
My main wishes have nothing to do with the customization aspects, heck even the graphics.
Wish the game played more like real hockey, where the puck is never really in "possession" of a player, it is a loose entity in itelf (Fifa was able to do this with the ball in their game). So ya, real player physics (the skating is pretty suspect at the moment) and puck physics.
Add that to the fact that there needs to be a noticable difference between the top end talent, 2nd tier talent, and your grinders. You add better physics where puck is a free/loose entity, plus the fact that only a few players in the league can dipsy doodle without loosing the puck, completely changes the way the game plays, where getting the puck deep and havng a forecheck are an actual playing strategy. it also means being more defensive in the neutral zone (ie. sit back trap styles) can be employed and could benefit against certain playing styles.
