He doesn't work for an NHL team, but he writes for FC and runs a well-respected blog. He gets to see Draisaitl many times a year, working for the Blades.

I fail to see how he cannot be classified as a scout but Zenon Herasymiuk can.

Corey Pronman doesn't work for an NHL team either, but I definitely respect his thoughts. That's all I'm trying to say.

FC even has Draisaitl below Nylander.

I don't necessarily discount the opinion of Nicolet or Herasymiuk. In fact they probably have more qualified opinions than the average fan.

However, Herasymiuk isn't giving an opinion, he is giving quantifiable information (assuming it is correct).

Don't you find it interesting that Reinhart and Draisaitl's skating was scientifically tested and Draisaitl's skating performed better. Yet Draisaitl gets much worse criticism on his skating than Reinhart.

I acknowledge the testing won't accurately reflect game conditions and there is more to a prospect than skating, but it makes you wonder if there is bias creeping into the reports of Draisaitl's skating.

Bottom line for me is. Draisaitl scored 105 points on an eighth place team who was a couple OT losses away from completely missing the playoffs. Not bad for a slow skater. Reinhardt scored the same amount of points in the regular season on a better team but yet is heralded as a better player. I feel there's a little legacy and Canadianism going on here.

The top four is the top four. Draisaitl obviously has enough skill and hockey sense to compensate for his alleged bad skating and consistency issues.. I still take him at 4 over Dal Colle or Ritchie.
His upside once those two things are developed is off the charts.

Question with regards to player development.
Of the top five prospects it looks like Ekblad is the only one that is almost guaranteed to be playing in the NHL next year.
Prospects Bennett and Dal Colle are both younger and can definitely put on some more muscle and should probably be going back to junior next year.
The two question marks are Reinhart and Draisaitl. Draisaitl has the size to play in the NHL but could use work on skating. Reinhart could use the time to fill out more and work on his skating. Neither one of them has anything to prove in junior, and neither is eligible for the AHL next year.

My question is whether or not you can assign players to European leagues instead of junior for a year when they are not eligible for the AHL? Say we end up with Reinhart. Nothing left to prove in junior with 105 points in 60 games, but at 185 lbs maybe not ready for the NHL, and not old enough for the AHL. Could the Flames sign him and assign him to the KHL or the top Swedish or Finnish leagues if they could find a team that was willing to take him?

Would this be better for his development than having to go back to junior or being rushed into the NHL? Same argument for Draisaitl.

If we drafted S. Reinhart, I think he and his brother could crack the lineup for the 3rd line. If we drafted Draisaitl, I think we'd put him back in the juniors for another year.

Reihnhart would have to take a job from Stajan, or Backlund to make the team. I don't think he will be ready for that next year.

Yeah it's weird it isn't mentioned more often for Reinhart because that's what really stood to me when I watched the prospects game. Reinhart is a decidedly mediocre skater and Draisaitl might end up as a better skater when all is said and done. I think Draisaitl has a powerful stride, he needs a bit more explosiveness.

Reinhart may be the one who slips to 4th

Does he? Why couldn't he play right wing he is a right handed shot. We do seem to be short in that area to so who knows.

Not only is he a right shot, but he regularly plays RW too.

I guess, but I'd rather him stay at his natural position. If the Flames feel otherwise then so be it. They know a hell of a lot more then I do.

Gives us more of a reason to want S. Reinhart since he can play RW. We're in desperate need of that.

Craig Button has Reinhart dropping to #4 in his mock draft.

Maybe he knows something..............

Gaudreau - Monahan - Reinhart sounds downright vicious.

You don't move a natural centre to right wing because of 30 year old Matt Stajan.

Is this recent? He had Bennett sliding to 4 at the last mock I saw which was the night of the lottery

Temporarily you could. It seems that it happens for NHL rookies until a spot at centre opens up.
