Cap space is not the issue.

Elliot > Mac
Emery > Mac
Brodeur > Mac

Cap space is not the issue, but would any of those guys want to come here, considering they will likely get offers from teams closer to playoffs (or in Marty's case, possibly retire)

I think there are a lot of backups in the FA market this year, I don't think it would be that hard to find one, especially one that is younger than JoeyMac.

This would be my list as well although I could live without Hanowski but if the deal is cheap it could be worth it.

I'm not high on him either and don't believe he will make an NHL impact ever, and if he does it will likely be on the 4th line. But I think you gotta re-sign him for 1-2 years..

Marty Brodeur on this team isn't a pipe dream, it's a pipe nightmare. He was awful this season.

Oh I understand, I'm just saying I'd like to see it. I also don't know who's paying a 42 year old Marty Brodeur to play 40+ games.

Don't see Billins as every day NHLer ever, and would rather have Tspoon or Sieloff or others being called up before Billins. walk

Bouma is a beast. sign

Byron is a beast. sign

Colborne had a great year and needs to be re-upped. sign

I've been impressed by Cundari the last couple years and I'd like to see him have a roster spot next year. sign

Eddy doesn't have enough skill to be an NHLer, and he can easily be replaced. walk

Galiardi will just take up a roster spot for a young guy. But I would like to see him for 1 more year. sign

Hanowski shouldn't be cut in his first pro year.sign

Martin is a career AHLer. walk

Ortio had a great year. sign

Roy gives us goalie depth. sign

Breen had some good flashes. sign

Butler can easily be replaced by better FA's or trade targets. walk

Cammalleri will most likely walk

I've always been a fan of Jones, sign

rest walk

I'd also re-sign Smith. For the farm I only count 6 defencemen so far.

Billins
Breen
Culkin
Kulak
Ramage
Seiloff

Wotherspoon is a toss up whether he goes down and even 8 defencemen isn't a lot. Roy may get a contract too but still we are a bit short, I'd say.

I hope we sign Cammy and trade with salary retention for something decent, I'd hate to lose him for diddly squat... Dollars we have, personnel we do not.

I also hope we look into picking up Jagr and possibly a decent FA goalie. These signings would mostly be for mentoring. Hopefully we have a ton of young guys in the bigs next season and a mentor like Jagr would be priceless.

Didn't Jagr already re-sign with the devils?
