Sounds to me like they are just giving Chicago a little leverage to make a trade. It is pretty rare there is this much smoke, and in some cases out right fire, and the prospect ends up signing.

He's got a few more months before Chicago loses his rights. I am sure he'll change his mind and sign with Chicago.

I think he is holding out hope for here. Just a hunch. Wonder what our new GM thinks...

Holding out hope for what? Someone will sign him if he makes it to August 15th. No doubt about it.
Teams may not be willing to trade for his rights, but pretty much everyone will be lining up to sign him as an UFA.

The Oilers are probably editing the DVD and getting ready to pimp out their alumni as we speak.

Oilers brass out-thinks themselves and Jason Bonsignore, Steve Kelly, and Michel Riesen make appearances on the DVD. Hayes promptly uses a ninja smoke bomb and splits town.

Will be really interesting to see where he ends up. Odds on favorite has to be Florida, with Calgary being a more distant second choice I think. However, you can never know sometimes. All it takes is one GM offering guaranteed playing time to make him sign somewhere I would say.

I remember Sather making that pick when the draft was in Edmonton while Shane Doan was still available. The smugness was so laughable.

That was actually Steve Kelly. I remember all the fans yelling out Doan and then they drafted Kelly and the fans boo'd, it was awesome!

Dan Tkaczuck wasn't a wasted 1st rounder. He had a lot of promise but got eliminated by a brutal concussion. Fata was fast and skilled but didn't end up working out. There wasn't anyone on the board at that time that was an obvious better pick. Krahn i simply can't argue with. I don't like goalies in the 1st round. Hell I don't really like goalies in the 2nd round unless it is an obvious pick you have to make. Like if Demko slips to Colorado's 2nd.

It makes no difference. We are ALWAYS in a position to make fun of everything the Oilers do because Edmonton is no good.

Hayes isn't even in the discussion for breaking into the NHL roster in Chicago, I can't see him signing another contract there...TT seems a lock, and Morin and Nordstrom are the next most likely to play significant time with Chicago...Handzus, who seems likely to retire, and Peter Regin are the only UFAs...Ben Smith is a lock to be returned to the Club and is an RFA...and Morin is the only other RFA...there will not be enough turnover at forward for Hayes to really have a chance.

Sure we can because Edmonton is no good and because the Oilers drafted Riesen, Mikhonov and Henrich in those same years plus the other washouts...
