Plus, I'm not sure if that's the mindset you want to send them off with. I would rather send them off thinking they are going to win the next 3 and we have another series rather then the "Let's say goodbye now because it's potentially all over".
I think the time to reminiscence about their time in Abbotsford is when it's actually done. Not while they are still fighting in the playoffs. But that's just me maybe.

I agree with you. Having the team dwell that thus might be their last game in Abbotsford would be a disaster. It would be like saying " We are done . no point in trying now." I think postponing those questions shows the loyals , hey we are still here and we are going to fight to get this series and playoffs back to this Arena. We are not done yet.

Well, that was disappointing. Before tonight the last Heat game I went to was the 7-2 loss to Chicago back in March, which was another turkey of a game. Bad luck.
The only guy who had any jump tonight was Reinhardt.
Oh, and you guys complaining about your $10 - be happy you didn't drop $70 on a pair of tickets and another $8 on a tiny beer, to watch that game FFS!
Buuuut I'll probably be right back in the stands next home game.

What a disaster of a game. An absolute debacle.
I can't even begin to tell you what went wrong. Could be fatigue, could be a lack of experience, could've just been "one of those nights." Who knows.
Honestly don't know what to say. Just a truly brutal night.

I was only listening, but how bad was the attempted spear by Jones? I know he got 4 minutes for attempted spearing, but was it ugly enough were Ward could sit him out Wednesday (or longer if they win)? I for one have low tolerance for our players pulling dirty plays like that and if it was as bad as I imagine I hope he has played his last game with the organization.

Don't worry. Stay home. The last 2 games you went to was this game and the 7-2 loss. I can't be the only one that thinks that this blowout loss is entirely your fault.

I was at the game and just got back. Not many positives tonight since the team was pretty much in passenger mode for some reason. Ortio had an off night, although facing a game's worth of shots in just under 30 minutes didn't help. It felt like Kulak was the only player with some energy made a couple good stretch passes and had a couple rushes where he was able to skate the puck out of the zone. O'brien seemed to wake up in the 3rd and looked like one angry S.O.B, not only hitting but had some couple rushes in the offensive zone that surprised me.
Poirier's goal looked slick, had also a bit of an edge to his game after getting some ice time late in the third.
Don't think I've ever seen Ward that upset where he was exchanging words with the opposing coach.
Thought the refs were horrible tonight. Not the reason the Heat loss but they seemed to conveniently missing infractions against Grand Rapids. Thought some of the calls on the Heat were weak as well. Olson's crosscheck was a result of a guy falling. Not sure how Poirier got called for charging when he was right beside the guy he hit. Just looked at the scoresheet apparently they gave Evans an extra 2 minutes at the 20 minute mark to make the it seem more balanced.
I really hope they come back in the series, it would suck for their last game to be one where they got slaughtered.

Everyone I've spoken to in the organization has a TON of respect for Troy Ward as a coach, mentor and teacher. He's done a great job with a revolving door of guys in Abbotsford this year.
I'm excited to see what he'll do with a deeper roster next season.
Grand Rapids is what all farm teams aspire towards.

I can't overstate how great it is to have great coaches in Abby and Calgary. I hope we eventually adopt Detroits model for player development, since it seems to pay off in big ways.

He was a non-existent/non-factor in the game.
As was pretty much the entire team.

Goal by goal:
- O'Brien caught up-ice on rush. Granlund caught a bit behind winger. Parkes gets rebound.
- O'Brien/Breen (and whole team) gets caught on heels after 2-1 goal. Nestrasil basically able to wander into crease.
- Loosey-goosey passing between Granlund/Billins and nice forecheck pressure by Emmerton.
- Arsene/LaFranchise get backed in on odd-man rush. Hoggan gets good shot off.
- Bad-angle shot from the outside. On Ortio. Kulak kept him well to the outside.
- Point shot at the end of a double-minor kill, with Breen unintentional screen on Carr.
- Pulkkinen leans into one at end of a PK. Not really covered, but GR's best player nailed a good shot.
Heat did a lot of little things poorly. Griffins best players better than Heat's best players. Ortio not very good.

I think the most telling stats about how bad the team played offensively are these:
Brett Kulak led all Heat players with 3 shots on goal and one of the forward lines combined for more than 4 shots on goal.

Looks like they've stopped playing for themselves…..certainly have stopped playing for the coach…next steps exit interviews clean out lockers and a long drive home…TGW can fire up the summer hockey schools…and start planing for next year AHL or ECHL???? He can't seem to motivate beyond this point

Right, because professional athletes are just going to collectively stop playing in game 2 of a best-of-five playoff series simply because they can't be motivated by their coach any more.
Nice.

Don't feed the troll. One disappointing game after a season of well developing players means TGW gets sent to the ECHL despite many NHL teams showing potential interest. Don't give this "angry ex girlfriend" of TGW's get the response he's looking for.
