Personally for me my top 5 rank:
1. Ekblad
2. Reinhart
3. Bennett
4. Ritchie
5. Dal Colle

I remember reading last year comments from the Flames scouts that they don't care too much about whether a player is in good shape right now because they can always develop those workout and diet habits (Howse is an exception). It was suggested that a top prospect in poor condition has the upside to be an even better prospect with the right conditioning.

So in a way, if Ritchie has poor conditioning right now, that's the more impressive, because what's his upside when he gets professional dieting and working habits?

He's since changed his tune.

His most recent interview on the Fan seems to offer a different view of Draisaitl (he's mentioned alongside Bennett and Reinhart). He says he likes the forward group, "size and skill there with the German kid" and then mentions Ritchie, and says "hard-nosed kid". Also makes note that Fleury is not in the top 5 or 6.

People actually want Ritchie with the 4th overall pick? My goodness that would be an epic disaster. He likely doesn't go until the 8th or 9th spot or even later unless Calgary does something stupid.

To me he's on the same tier as Draisaitl and Dal Colle in terms of organizational need. If Ekblad and both Sams are off the table by #4, then I'm down with Ritchie. Otherwise, yes it is a disaster.

I'm fully prepared for a Burke disaster...

His ability to pick crap is a skill, I expect he will pick a bust.

Burke said oit himself. He doesn't draft on organizational need. And in terms of potential, Ritchie is far down the list on pretty much every scout rankings. There is obviously a reason for that and I'd rather Calgary not go for a project at 4th overall.

Draisaitl is an infinitely better player than Ritchie. The dislike for Draisaitl on this board is genuinely confusing.

Well, Assuming that Ekblad, Bennett, Reinhart are gone I believe Burke has in him a Brendl.

He seems to nail any that are top 10 overall. Mid-to-late first rounders and beyond....hot & cold. I expect that he'll make the final decision on the 4th overall and defer to the scouts for the rest.

Some decent names outside the top 10 too.

I would be quite disappointed if the Flames were to pick Ritchie at #4.

At least one of Dal Colle, Bennett and Draisaitl will still be on the board (I can't see Reinhart falling to #4) , and are better prospects imo.

I think the majority want Dal Colle over Draisaitl.

I think that same majority want Draisaitl over Ritchie.

I'm predicting that what is left for the Flames out of the top four, they will take. No Ritchie or Dal Colle. Just a prediction.

Dal Colle is in the top 4. Take him over the slow Draisaitl every day

I get excited just watching these highlights that there is a possibility we might get him.

Agree with Draisaitl being slow. From his higlights package I was not impressed by his speed at all. In today's game you better be able to move fast. For that reason alone, big pass on him.

Draisaitl is slow. His size advantage is clear against kids.

Draisaitl isn't nearly as slow as you guys seem to think.

He has a good burst of speed, but he doesn't play a fast game to begin with. He's a slower, more methodical player ala Kopitar, Thornton, Jagr. He protects the puck well, has great awareness, and is a hell of a passer.

He's also been trending up pretty much the entire draft season. The more scouts see him, the more they like him. If it came down between Dal Colle and Draisaitl, I'd sooner have Draisaitl. He's much more of a playmaking centre than Monahan showed himself to be in his first pro season. They could be a great 1-2 punch together.
