The talk of some wanting to trade Brodie, Gaudreau or Monahan... wow those are downright untouchable on my list. Nobody in this years draft has proven to be enough of a "sure thing" that they will be even close to good enough to move from fourth to first and give up one of the above.

Talk about blue waffle crazy...

You only trade Baertschi to fill a gap in the system. I'd move him for a blueliner that has potential to be a top pair player but may be caught behind a glut of talent. That would make sense for the Flames, especially considering the depth the Flames have on the left side.

That's not terrible at first glance. Brodie may not have Ekblad's ceiling but he is further along in his development. If Florida wanted to avoid the time it would take for Ekblad to grow into a top 2 guy...then maybe...

Brodie may not have Ekblad's size but it doesn't make sense to trade a player that we had spent the last few years developing into a top 2 D for another player that we have to develop into a top 2 D again. That sounds like going full oiler. Never go full oiler.

I'd probably do more because I really don't want to take Ritchie at 4.
I think we get Bennet with our 4th.

As much as I would like to draft Ekblad, I think we would have to give up to much to trade up to 1st. We'll still get a very good prospect at 4, and our depth in defensive prospects is actually looking quite good at the moment so I don't want to deal it.

Anyone seen Draft Day?

I don't have any witty proposals, but that's all I"m thinking of in this thread.

BTW...If you haven't seen the film but consider yourself a football or sports fan, you would probably not enjoy this film.

10 penalty flags out of 10.

Brodie's best years are ahead, it would be a mistake to deal him now imo.

Granlund/Wotherspoon/Reinhart. Our 3rd this year and Kris Russel/Butler/Knight*lol.

Those 3 assets could do it: it would probably shake out to MG, KR, and our 3rd.

to me that is acceptable. granlund hurts and so does russel but for ekblad i do it.

Or Gio and Colorado's second for the first. then with the 4th trade down and get Richie or Virtanen or Perlini and another asset to move down.

We could only wish for this to happen, there is no way Florida would do this trade... and if they did... wow.. we would be seriously on our way ...

The thread isn't about *wanting* to trade those players, it's about what we think it would take to get it done. Florida would hang up the phone if the offer is Sven and a 1st. They'd be asking for the players we don't want to give up.

Florida is not going to trade a potential 10-15 year defenceman who can step in next year without getting huge return. We don't have the assets to make this deal.

Makes absolutely no sense to move up.

Nobody in their right mind should be considering trading their 1st next year with McDavid & Eichel as potential pickups, and the fact that they may be redoing the lottery/order.
