This debate is like arguing about religion. We all know everyone likes different kinds of music. Why do we have to have a "rap is crap" thread every 3 months or so??

I think its because the vast majority of people over the ages of 13-21 cant understand the genre, and it has absolutely no impact on their lives other than the fact their sons want to wear 75 pounds of bling bling, low rider pants, XXXXXXXL BBall Jersey, bandana and side mounted farmers cap and their daughters want to wear...well nothing!.

Not to mention the fact that the lyrics i presented earlier have a very serious consequence when it comes to parenting.

Yes theres "a small amount" of good stuff....but that is not what is presented in the mainstream at all. Rap is not positive in any way shape or form.

Finally someone achieves some brilliance in this thread. Seemed obvious from the start that this is the case (though I notice Folk/Country are deemed 'crappier' in your list ).

Music tends to be appreciated in different ways by different people. It's not inherently 'good or bad', it just is.

the DIFFERENCE in crap is like this...The stuff you listed is like a regular bowel movement...nothing special, a little smelly, but crap nonetheless.

Rap is well...its like one of those benders you went on in University...or more like the day after. You know when even you couldnt stand the smell of your own "crap". Beer, Popcorn, Nachos, more Beer, Shooters and god knows what else you tossed on top of it. Loved ones are not safe...and neither are enemies.

So even in the ranks of crap...there is different kinds of...well you get the picture. |

No Jordon, you are clearly missing the point. If everything isn't run through a factory with production lines operated by robots, then it's obviously not right. I can't believe you, or anyone else, would even dare to vary from the norm. That's the sort of mindstate that causes confusion and terror for those who live in the simley, happy world of daffodils, dandelions, rainbows and lollipops. Everything should always be done the way it always has been, and if it's not, it's wrong. This is not an opinion, this is a fact.

Most emo kids just need a hug. I would hug them, but then I would be close enough to their proximity of despair. It's like a disease.

Seriously. If I have ever had a kid, Id rather they are gothic then emo.

hahaha. What kinds of bands are exactly emo. I just put any whiny and depressed rock, punk or alternative bands in the category.

Rap, like country music, has a very healthy portion of crap but also some really good stuff.

Most of the stuff I've heard has the exact same beat, probably a beat designed by computers.

I'm not only accusing rap of using computers to make music, but most of the mainstream music today. I want real music, with a band that uses guitars and drums to make it.

Thats my opinion anyway.

That's a pretty narrow definition of "real music". Glenn Gould and Miles Davis, for example, didn't make real music?
