Oh man, this thread has totally made my day! I must say, I haven't followed a Flames prospect as much as I have Gaudreau these past couple of years. Ever since watching him at the World Juniors, I've been hooked.
Hope he'll be at the rookie camp in Penticton this year. I want to see what this kid can do live and up close.

I would expect this too. How many jerseys have flown off the shelves with Monahan and Baertschi's names / numbers on the back by now, must be lots. Lots of friends and family in there.

Isn't it a done deal that he's turning pro once they get on the plane regardless of if the contract is signed this season?
I thought NCAA players can't accept anything or their eligibility is finished, they even have to pay their own way to camp I thought.

I think people are forgetting Theo's number hasn't been retired yet (or um.. Forever a Flame'd..). Theo was my favorite Flame as a kid and I personally wouldn't be offended to see Johnny take it. I mean, if anybody today is going to don the number, this kid's the one.

Baertschi did say that, but that was pre-Burke and Burke really dislikes Nascar numbers. I fully expect to see Sven wearing #27 next year when Smith is gone.
