And yes, I know there is a gear grinder thread. This is bigger than that, which is why it deserves its own thread. [Mod edit- no it doesn't]
It started off withone reasonable comment that you need to be more specific about where you are eating to determine if it is appropriiate. Which I think is valid. Then it degenerated into jokes about bears and dogs. Most of it tired and old but the odd post being pretty funny.

As to your gear grinder if you are eating on the restaurant side of Boston Pizza (no one should be eat there anyway) then cheering loudly while other families are enjoying dinner is probably offside. But if you are at any pub with a TV then I think it is fine to cheer even if others aren't. The closer it is to a restauarnt with TV's the less loud you should be. The closer it is to a sports bar the louder you can be even if others aren't watching.

Eating Spicey Perogy Pizza is the exception to that rule.

You know what RGMG? Tech snobs.

You know who I'm talking about, the "well this is better" or, "you should've bought this."

Damn, my iPhone battery sucks lately, "Oh well you should've bought a Samsung, they're a lot better for blah blah blah blah" Yeah neato bro, cool story.

iPhone/Android, Playstation/Xbox, Mac/Windows, whatever. Everyone has to be an expert over what's better and why. How about, if you want to spend a pile of money on a tiny piece of technology, you just pick whatever you like and let everyone else do the exact same thing. Oh your Samsung has interchangeable batteries? Sweet, life must be pure bliss for you. Keep living the dream.

I can't remember that not being apart of hockey. Seems like a Don Cherry thing that's been around for a while.

You make it sound like you brought up the battery issue. Are you complaining about your iPhone battery just to hear the sound of your own voice then? It GYG that people listen to your complaints and offer solutions?

Wow, you must be a huge hit at parties huh?

Yeah, I usually just walk up to strangers and say "Oh hey my battery sucks! NO SOLUTIONS PLEASE!"

Uh no, casual conversation, I'm sure you've had a few. They general flow in certain ways, things can come up randomly, etc.

Something like:
"Blah blah blah idle chatter"
"Weather sports stuff"
*checks phone*
"Oh damn, phones dead already."
"Oh really? My phone lasts at least a day or two, and I have extra batteries to swap out. IPhones aren't very good for that, you really should have bought this other phone."
"Doesn't bother me much."
"Well not only is the battery better, but Android phones are more customisable and the OS is a lot blah blah blah."

I just found out that it also GMG when people focus on the most insignificant part of an example you provide for them, like they are unable of gathering what's important by context.

Another example (which illustrates my point better, and happens even more often) is:
"Oh I just bought that new PS4."
"Oh really? I have the XBOX ONE, ITS MUCH BETTER BECAUSE BLAH BLAH BLAH."

People who think their advice is valuable enough to give when no advice is requested or needed are adorable.

I'm really happy that my coworker is cycling through his entire library of ring tones this morning. For 15+ minutes now. It's very pleasing to my ears, especially the 10 variants of minions from Despicable Me or the rainbow of farts. Haha! Oh wow, classics!

Shoot me.

Telling someone that they should have bought a different phone doesn't seem like much of a solution. It sounds more like an "I told you so" type of comment.

The usual conspiracy nuts suggesting the Russian speaking invaders of Crimea who weren't wearing insignia were actually sent in by the West to antagonize Putin into responding and therefore giving countries a reason for sanctions against Russia, which in turn would make American natural gas more saleable.

Really?

Man sometimes I hate people.

Referring to plays as being filthy or dirty seems to be really popular with this crowd. Probably the same guys who started referring to Pittsburg as "Pitt" last year after Iginla was traded there.
