It probably would have been best for the Islanders to win that game.

Kevin Quinn is such a simple minded person.
How anyone can get so excited for small moments is beyond me.

Maybe it's just me and maybe I'm just looking through my Oiler hating glasses, but here's something I've come to notice a few times already. Gagner (an 8 year veteran) scores an OT winner against the 4th worst team in the league, while his team remains the 2nd worst team in the league. The whole team, especially Gagner, celebrate like they just won a playoff game. When rookie Monahan scored the OT winner against the Oilers a week and a half ago, you get a smile and a generic goal celebration by the team. You can tell they enjoy the win, especially against a rival but don't go over the top. This is why I LOVE our rebuild compared to the Oilers. Dignity, no obvious game throwing for a better pick, and just a bit of humility to keep the team grounded. It's no wonder that franchise is in the toilet when they think a bottom feeding team beating another bottom feeder is a HUGE win. I would be absolutely ashamed to show my face if I was an Oiler fan.

It's called top down leadership. We may have had a bad team for a long time, but we never act Junior Hockey.

I don't understand Eakins post-game comments.
As we get better...there will be better expectations...its up here...aspirational...higher something...expectations...
Ryan Smyth must love Wayne Gretzky dearly
No reward when we played well. There was no reward when we played well.
Over the last 10 games we've played good hockey...I'm going to always want us to play much better, but its always going to be that way.
Insert random stutters and uhhs, ahhs..
What the heck?

Granlund's a perfect example.
If you look up his highlights from Finland, he did some over-the-top celebrations at times. Now, you look at his celebration last night, after scoring his first NHL goal, a little fist-pump and a big smile.

This third period between San Jose and Pittsburgh is the best period of hockey I've watched all season. 3-3 after Pittsburgh was up 2-0 to start the period

If the crowd's not in it after the home team scores, there's a problem, and no amount of crazy "slide across the ice" or "my stick's on fire" celebration is going to change that.

Could literally not disagree more. Win with class or don't bother.

Crowd might not need circus "cellies" to get into it if their team wasn't out of the race by Rememberence Day.

That was two teams tanking for the bottom that were trying to give each other the win.
Two completely terrible hockey teams.
It was like two old people fumbling around in the dark.
The league should just find a way to suspend the rest of their games if they're not going to you know, actually put an effort in.
Refund the fans money and tell the players to go home or get drunk or whatever.

Certainly a good argument in favour of the "most points after being mathematically eliminated gets 1st overall" scheme.
