disappointed he wasn't traded.

expecting to be even more disappointed when we re-sign him rather than just letting him walk.

Given what Burke has been saying I can't think it's not for lack of trying.

Vanek for a 2nd and a prospect

The market wasn't there this year. Very, very weird

I viewed this potential trade as another key element in the re-build, which up until today, had actually been coming together nicely. This is a huge mis-step - probably our last, best, tradable asset that was part of the tear-down now will likely leave the organization without anything of value coming back.

Pretty frustrating. This really is an epic fail as far as asset management is concerned.

So we did get less of a return then the Oilers did for Hemsky? Unbelievable.

Why ruin our reputation as the worst asset managers in the league now?

Seems strange that Cammalleri didn't go to Anaheim...

I mean, maybe the offers were so low Burke thought he could get more trading his rights after the season? I don't know, I can't think of anything else. This is inexcusable.

Even if the return was not great, by turning it down we are essentially trading whatever it was as an opportunity cost for 1.5 months of cammalleri. Brutal.

If Vanek only got a 2nd and a prospect I'm glad Cammy wasn't traded. The market wasn't there for these guys

In other words, a participation ribbon.

The market was definitely softer than most people thought, but the Flames are going to be the only team standing with the ***** in their hands. Even the Oilers took what they could get on a couple of lesser players than Cammellari.

Judging by the returns out there we'd probably be looking at a 2nd round pick at best and likely a 3rd rounder. Not the end of the world.

Flames fans are too used to Sutter and Feaster making trades for the sake of making trades. I think a lot of people are also over valuing Cammy.

Sometimes the trades you don't make are just as good or better, we have no idea what the offers were, if the offer were say, a low pick and taking back salary, why would you do that?

Doesn't matter what the market is. He is not going to help is here and he'll leave for nothing anyways. Could have taken something for him.
