Keep in mind this is a player that many media were reporting/speculating the asking price was a 1st rounder plus more.

Yeah, with a lot of these trades today my already somewhat low expectations on the returns for our players are dropping even further.

Islanders asked for a 1st, looks like they caved. Starting to see a trend of 2015 picks being moved though. Hope Burke gets in on that.

I dunno.. if none of the guys under contract are moved then Vanek, Moulson and Cammalleri are the best top-6 forwards available. Throw in Callahan and there are the most attractive forwards.
I think at least 4 teams are interested in adding forwards and with the race in the west to match St. Louis' upgrade you never know..

Isles seemed to have caved since they asked for a 1st.
MacDonald is actually a pretty good d-man, 2nd and 3rd is a good deal for the Flyers IMO.

I would think two are on the move but depth is also a good thing. But philly also requires cap space.

He sucks. Just plays a lot because the Islanders entire defense sucks. Chris Butler with power play time.

Seems to be more future, as in a couple years down the line, draft picks being moved than normally. Might be confirmation bias at this point but perhaps teams aren't sold on 2014 and would rather gamble on 2015 since it's expected to be better. I imagine that the Islanders could have got a 2014 2nd instead of a 2015 2nd if they really wanted it (and the Flyers do have their own 2014 2nd).
Either way I'm surprised all it took was a 2nd and 3rd to get it done.

Philly's 2nd rounder in 2015 could be nearly as good as a 1st in the 2014 draft. Depth of the draft class factored with the Flyers' recent level of ability mean that pick could turn into a decent prospect for the Isles.
