Ya, shouldn't have lumped Ana in there. I was mainly looking at playoff teams who have some cap room to take him on.

Basically Cammy is getting paid 6M this year because he had a 39 goal season 5 years ago.

His future value is because he had a great playoff season 4 years ago and a good playoff season 3 years ago.

This year might be written off because of the Flames as a team being out gunned but the 2 previous seasons in Calgary (with Iginla and Bouwmeester and Tanguay and Jokinen) Cammalleri has not produced like a top 3 6M / year player.... he has been a lot closer to producing like Mason Raymond.

Is there some indication or glimmer that Cammalleri will ever score 25 or more goals in a future season? What sort of situation would that have to be?

Cammalleri's market value is highest for these coming up playoffs...... maybe he can somehow get back to a top 3 level for 10-15 games.

You're kidding me right? Cammelleri is a better player at his best and has been a better player and more productive player every single season except this season.

Cammy belongs in a higher class than Raymond in the NHL.

Cammy has already gotten more interest than Raymond considering the team he plays for wants to re-sign him.

By reputation but not on-ice performance over the last 3 seasons

Cammy 151 games 46 goals 94 pts and -47 (on the pp 11 goals and 33 pts)

Raymond 161 games 36 goals 77 pts and +5 (on the pp 11 goals and 17 pts)

Cammalleri is getting 2-3 minutes more ice-time per game that includes a more than a minute / game more of PP time.

Does the extra 10 goals and 17 pts balance out the incredible beating that Cammelleri is taking playing 5 on 5?

Well at least you've moved on from Bouwmeester.

so basically the same deal that the Oilers gave Hemsky in the same situation..

Hemsky was 3-4 years away from his top-line days and having his 36 pt in 69 game season -13 .

The Oilers needed him around to transition the rebuild. (sound familiar?) He was 28 years old -- a couple years younger than Cammalleri is now.

If Burke can get a first round pick for Cammalleri it would be an achievement.

However there are other factors above winning.

The Flames may pay more to achieve the floor for the next few years with a commodity that they know is helpful for development.

The guy has a family and may love Calgary as a place to raise his kids.

He may believe the Flames are on to something. Russel's stock went way up and he resigned despite hearing rumours that he was in demand at the deadline. Stajan is Stajan I know, but the guy would still have interest on the UFA line in July and his agent would know it.

The veteran group in Calgary seems to be very optimistic going forward, which is interesting.
He's also on record saying that Alberta is much more tax advantageous for someone of his pay grade. (at the time in comparison to Montreal)

If you extrapolate those numbers out over 82 games, Cammy has averaged 25 goals and 51 points, while Raymond averaged 18 goals and 39 points. There is a significant difference between a player who consistently averages 25 goals over 82 games and a player who averages 18 goals over 82 games. 25 goals is good top 6 production. 18 goals coming from a weak, finesse forward simply isn't desirable.

Raymond is better defensively, but Cammy's plus minus is clearly affected by the fact he plays for one of the worst teams in the league.

I would prefer that Burke trades Cammy for a 1st and prospect.

Looks like someone just used +/- to try and win an argument...
