Trying to teach other drivers a lesson never works. You only make them think you're an #######, or even escalate thing to full-on road rage.

Yeah, it's a car. It's also expensive. There's also people out their that love cars, just because you might not doesn't make them meaningless. If I found out the dick that sprayed my car did it on purpose, needless to say I wouldn't be very pleased.
Two lane road, no passing allowed and no room to move over. Brake check doesn't work and aggressive drivers breaking the law shouldn't force me to take the bus. My actions are safer than the other driver's by far and yet, I'm the one in the wrong? Eff that.

If you found out the dick that sprayed your car did it on purpose... That's the thing. IF. What's more likely to happen though? You'd go, "effin idiot," and back off.

This is hilarious. I wonder how many of you get gravelled while tailgating.

For the record, I've done it ONCE. BUT, I would do it again if I had to. I'm not going to be bullied while driving and doing nothing wrong.

And yet tailgating seems to be an acceptable form of 'driver coaching' on the road while being the least safe way to do it.

What road was this? I ask because I have found many drivers make mistakes on what the various lines on the road mean.

No one's defending tailgating, son. It's your driving that's at issue here. And deliberately spraying rocks is bad driving, period. You can't do it and still call yourself a good driver. If you can live with that, fine I guess. I just don't want to share the road with you.

So someone driving dangerously bothers you, that's fine. Why is your solution to drive dangerously back to them? That's just childish, and you risk escalating it further.

If someone is driving at a safe distance, they will be unaffected by my actions. It's really quite simple actually. I'm not doing it on Deerfoot or something. lol.
Driving in the gravel to shoot rocks at the person behind you is not defensive driving, regardless if they are following too close for your comfort. If a policeman saw you do this and felt you did it on purpose they could give you a ticket for careless driving.

This, which was also my original comment too. It's a $402 ticket, btw, and yes it's been given for people spraying gravel.

There's a solid yellow line there, and it's a 60 zone. Passing is permitted.

In urban areas posted at 70 km/h or less,
yellow single solid line indicates that a driver
shall not cross the single solid line from one
lane to another except when overtaking and
passing another vehicle. Use of broken yellow
line is not therefore required in urban areas to
indicate that passing maneuvers are allowed.

Because I really felt I had no other option actually. It appeared as though they weren't paying attention to how close they were getting, not that they were tailgating to be aggressive. Brake check didn't work at all, there was no option to pull over, etc.

It's fine that you don't agree with my tactic of getting their attention but it worked and seemed by far the safest option at the time.

Calling it childish to be worried about my safety? Go eff yourself.

No, calling it childish to respond to a dangerous maneuver, with a dangerous maneuver.

I just don't understand the thought process.

Stupid perhaps, but childish is for children. I think we're all adults here.

And you weren't in the situation so that's probably why you don't understand the thought process.

This is going to get ugly, fast. You're going to be eaten alive Firefly. Perhaps it's best to defer to the dozens of much more experienced drivers and re think what you're doing. It's very teenage/new driver behaviour.

Am I the only one that doesn't really care when I'm being tailgated?

I used to care, and get all bent out of shape. But it's not worth it. I just ignore it and move over when safe and let the person pass. If it's a single lane road like the one posted above I'll maybe slow down and move over a little bit so the person can pass me.

I so rarely get tailgated that it's not really not an issue. But I drive fast and have enough experience to know how to stay out of other people's way.
