Well they did create a new formula to make their guy the world's fastest man in 1996. The American media loves their Olympic math!

One of my favourite athletic moments is still the race between Donovan Bailey and Michael Johnson. Johnson pulled up lame as soon as he saw Bailey was kicking his ass.

I put that there!

Customers that complain, then when you ask them for the specifics of the complaint (so you can address their concerns) can't identify/list/provide them to you.

"We just don't like it" is not a complaint that is valid, nor it is a complaint I can address and rectify.

People that do not have their location in the location field on here. Most times it is not an issue but when people are talking about the weather for example and they go "The weather is great here". You then look where they are and it is blank or something "funny".

Were you responsible for physically putting it there, or the decision to put it there? If the latter - why there, why not just buy the naming rights to a downtown tower?

The obvious answer, and it seems to have worked very well, is simply brand awareness. I saw it last weekend while driving to Banff. They've got a captive audience on busy route, people are snouting around at the scenery, less clutter than in a city, etc.

I thought it was really good placement, to be honest. I noticed it a lot more than the usual "insert lodge name here" billboards.

Those who quickly type a post then hit reply without reading it carefully enough. Sometimes I don't have know what you're writing or it's not clear enough and I have to guess as to your intent.

Companies that have bad corporate policy because they are too cheap to do multiple shipments. Quote from company email:

'Thank you for your recent order. Unfortunately, the item(s) listed below are temporarily out of stock and will be delayed. We take great pride in shipping orders complete and sincerely regret any inconvenience.'

First, the order isn't recent it was 3+ weeks ago. Second, why would delaying a shipment by weeks be a source of corporate pride? Third, you obviously regret my inconvenience less than you covet conserving your shipping costs.

Hmmmm....do you consider the Globe and Mail to be USA media?

Do you think that the Globe and Mail has the medal count wrong too?

That must be the reason the the "medal count" is referred to as the "medal count" and not the "gold medal count."

Oh, wait....

It's the "medal count" because the tie breaker is silvers, and then if that's still even, bronzes. Everyone does it this way, besides NBC, and it's pretty obvious why.

Winning ten golds is pretty clearly a better result than fifteen bronzes.

The official method, according to the IOC, is "gold first". So, yes, the Globe and Mail (and the US media) are technically incorrect.

Really? Check any site except american ones and i guess globe and mail. The main olympic site, bbc sport and even the times. Pretty much american media letting their people know how wonderful they are on the world stage, as usual.

I'll reply to my own post here to correct that there is no "official" method endorsed by the IOC. But there is a traditional method that is used on the official site for Sochi and most of the world's media. Except in the USA and, apparently, the Globe and Mail.

The US used to be Gold first until China. It was the first time that another country beat them in gold medals since the break up of the Soveit Union.

Canada has traditionally been total medals so that in the summer olympics we look respectable next to other G8 nations. Canada only recently (ie the last week of the Vancouver olympics) started to go Gold First.

Just make it a point system. 3 for gold, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze. Change the values to whatever you want so your home country wins, then it's all good.

Canada had the highest number of athletes to take home medals, and the highest number of athletes to earn gold medals. Between the two hockey teams there are almost 50 gold medals handed out; so that makes us #1.

We're getting close to that time of year... Where it all starts to melt, and there are tons of rocks and gravel in the shoulders of the roads. People, please learn to drive. Stay in your bloody lane so that you're not shooting gravel at the vehicle behind you. And pickup trucks, you know I'm a staunch defender of our club. It's pretty hard to defend you a-holes that don't have mud flaps. Do YOU like it when your truck gets peppered by gravel? No? Neither does anyone else. So grab your penny jar, and head to crappy tire, and spend $40 on some plain black flaps. You don't have to get the Yosemite Sam ones (but if you want those, I'm sure they'll be in stock) and put them on your fricken truck. Pure d-baggery to drive around this town without mud flaps.
