When you go to pay by card at the rare fast food joint, and the option for "Tip" pops up.
I'm getting a smoothie, a tip for WHAT?
I know it's as simply as clicking zero, but it GMG just for the half second of guilt I feel for absolutely no reason.

The other annoying "you shouldn't feel guilt but you do" situations is the old "and do you want to donate $2 to some charity" as you're paying.
F off. Don't make me say no I don't want to donate $2 to charity in front of a line up of people. I donate other places, don't make me look like a cheap ####### when I'm buying groceries. Pretty stupid method if you ask me, although I'm sure they make lots of money from people feeling guilty of saying no to a small cost in front of other people.

The only reason I EVER say yes to those is out of guilt.
No Chapters, I just want to buy this book, I'm a horrible person and don't care about the love of reading fund.

Meh, I suppose you could ask the cashier (or whoever is asking for the donation) about the financials of the recipient and what percentage of the donated funds go towards overhead and adminstrative salaries, outreach, "awareness" of whatever the recipient organization does, and to the actual work of the organization. It probably wouldn't hurt to ask what kind of write-off the money-collecting place gets by distributing to the recipient organization the money that it has collected.
When the cashier looks at you blankly, shrug and just say "Yeah, I don't give my hard-earned and over-taxed money blindly away to just anyone. Do you?"
That all being said, it is rather poor form for the organization to put the "do you want to donate" burden on their front-line employees. They probably don't want to ask for the donation either...

I went to a frozen yogurt place in McKenzie Towne and you basically go in, self-serve yourself your frozen yogurt, choose your toppings, put it all together yourself (as this is a self-serve frozen yogurt place), and then bring it up to the till to pay.
The debit machine asked me for a tip amount. That was last summer & I haven't been back since.

Google maps is just a click away, but I'm going to boldly post without checking........ Pretty sure it's called Slovakia. You might be thinking of the other half - Czech Republic.
And now I'm going to go double Czech. If I'm wrong, I promise not to ninja edit.

Well, upon researching it, on maps it's called Slovakia, but when I wikipedia'd it, it says that it's actually called Slovak Republic, or Slovakia for short. I guess I shouldn't believe everything I read on maps? Or maybe not everything I read on Wikipedia?

Is there some type of new download I need to view the CBC olympics highlights? Or is it just super crappy like everything else they do?

Based on my limited research, Slovakia is a perfectly acceptable way to refer to the Slovak Republic in English. Likewise, Czechia is a perfectly acceptable way to refer to the Czech Republic in English.
For whatever reason, when Czechoslovakia split up, we adopted one form to refer to one of the new nations and the other form for the other.
This is the website of the Slovak Tourist Board, and they call it Slovakia: http://www.sacr.sk/en/slovak-tourist-board/news/

Was never planning on posting this until the whole dog/cemetery thread popped up:
WRGMG is roadside "memorials" for people killed in car wrecks. For whatever reason I find them horribly distracting, and unbelievably tacky. The last thing I'd want my life to remembered for is the intersection I died at with a bunch of faded teddy bears and wilted flowers.

Use Firefox and not IE. (And that's coming from a mostly IE user.) Just make sure you also install Flash from within Firefox; the one that you may have installed for IE won't work.

Yeah, the popular name is Slovakia (Slovensko) or the long-form not-often-used name is Slovak Republic (Slovenska Republika). I believe the sign entering the country says Slovenska Republika.
For whatever reason Slovaks seem to prefer using short-form, more casual language. For instance, I was usually greeted with "Ahoj" in Slovakia and "Dobry den" in Czech Republic, although both greetings are perfectly acceptable in both languages.

It grinds my gears when people point their vehicle fobs at the vehicle when using them, especially if they are standing right in front of it.

I assume that the people that build the roadside memorials are the same people that have "In Loving Memory of Joe Blow What's His Face" in Olde English script stickered to the back window of their crappy Dodge Neon or Chevy Cavalier.
I would rather have a dog crap on my grave than to be memorialized on the back of some rust bucket jalopy.
