I liked the Phantom menace. I thought the other 2 were forgettable tripe, but always thought that the Phantom menace was a good movie and was better than the last 2/3s of return of the jedi.

I too loved The Legend of Bagger Vance.

I also loved Star Wars Episodes I-III. I recognize that they didn't live up to the magic of episodes IV-VI but I also went in without expectations. I pre-trained myself to simply like Episode I because it was Star Wars. I have a hard time watching Episode II now, but I think that Episode III is one of the best of all six movies, I'd rank it 3rd behind episode V and IV (in that order).

Another movie that I liked was Pearl Harbour.

13th Warrior. Fist of Legend. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ( made money but there were a ton of people who hated it, I for one loved the story. Like Big Fish)
Cloverfield for sure. Took the Blair Witch thing to a whole different level.
Even Horizon, I know a ton of people who disliked that movie. But it was awesome. Space Horror. Leviathan (1980's or 1990's deep sea movie). Leviathan came out around the same time as Deep Six and I think almost everyone chose Deep Six over Leviathan, I went the other way. What a great deep sea horror flick.

The BMX movie RAD. Childhood favorite. Lori Laughlin was my first celeb crush and this was the movie.

Maybe it wasn't promoted well and fell through the cracks but it's one of those movies I like to always have in my collection. I thought Tom Sizemore was brilliant although looking back now knowing his personal issues that role was probably life imitating art.

According to this thread I'm the only person who liked Return of the Jedi.

Really, ranking ANY of the prequels ahead of it is ridiculous. I guess people REALLY hate ewoks.

I think the best thing to come out of it is the 5 minute long standup routine Richard Jeni used to do about it. It's hilarious, and super impressive for a comic to be able to remain funny talking about a single movie for five minutes regardless of whether you've seen it or not. If anyone can find a video they should post it.

EDIT: Boom!

Someone mentioned Magnolia and I also always thought that was underrated, some really good performances in there including from the late PSH.

Despite having seen a metric ton of movies I'm having a lot of difficulty contributing to this thread. The only things I've liked that have been mentioned in here really don't deserve to be, like Galaxy Quest. Hilarious film.

Return of the Jedi is the Temple of Doom of the Star Wars Trilogy. Some things work well, while others don't (Ewok's=Willie Scott). The stuff with Luke, the Emperor, Yoda and Darth Vader is great and all, but much of the scenes on Endor are cringe worthy.

It is better than the new movies though, you're right on that. It does have a nice opening sequence with Jabba the Hutt, which I would equate to the fun mine cart sequence in Temple of Doom. Both are a far cry from the other entries in the original trilogies though.

What?!?!? Who hates Tremors? That movie's awesome!
Kevin Bacon
Reba
The dad from Family Ties
Giant man eating worms

I will also add that anyone who doesn't like Kindergarten Cop is someone I'd rather not know.

I think Tremors is a legitimate cult B-movie. That's sort of like saying you liked Army of Darkness when no one else did.

Also, who are these people who hate Independence Day? It's a cheesy blockbuster, not a good movie, sure, but I think most people appreciate it for what it is. Same with The Rock.

Yeah and I feel like The Mummy movies were generally pretty well-received. The first 2 at least.

Tremors might have had a moderate box office but it wasn't a movie people came out hating. It was a goofy movie, couldn't take it too seriously but even at the time critics were decently receptive of it.

I do agree that it got a better following as it appeared on TV but I don't think it belongs in this thread.

I love Independence day for what it is. I thought most people did. Sure, the American propaganda machine is in full force, but still. Any time I see it on TV I usually check it out.

Haha oh yes for sure. I didn't notice it until I was older but man is it rampant. My favorite example.

British Soldiers - "The Americans want to organize an offensive!" "Ahh finally! What do they plan to do?"

So the British just wait around for the US to think of ways to take on alien invaders?
