Yes, we have a crab/lobster tank right by the front entrance.

Haha! How do you steal a lobster? Did he stuff one in his pocket?

Here's a friendly reminder that the extra 10% off your bill Flood Re-Opening promo ends this Monday, September 30, 2013. The restaurant has been busy, especially on the weekends so it's a good idea to make reservations. You can do so by calling 403-269-2211 or booking online.

We have a 88% rating on Urbanspoon. Give us a thumbs-up and help us get over 90%! CP JIHAD!

Virgin Radio's Moring Show did a jingle about the restaurant this morning!

"There are a lot of business trying to get back on their feet after the floods...so we wanted to help them out with The Virgin Morning Show Ad Agency."

I sure was!

I helped man the Golden Inn table at the 'Taste of Chinatown' event on Wednesday night and was interviewed by Global TV.

Here's a link to the news clip: http://globalnews.ca/video/1025326/back-from-floods

If it wasn't obvious, I was super nervous

I was also interviewed by CBC Radio, but I can't find a clip of it online.

Calgary restaurant reviewer John Gilchrist recently interviewed my two brothers and I about Golden Inn's recovery from the flood. Look for the article in today’s Calgary Herald and Swerve Magazine (Friday, January 24, 2014).

My brother Kelvin (head chef at Nationals 17th Ave) and I were recently interviewed by CBC Radio.

We talked about the Golden Inn, Chinese New Years and Super Bowl:

The nacho idea sounded pretty tasty. Do you think if I came in, I could order that?

BTW - was Chinese New Years busy downtown? We were a bit nervous about dealing with potential lines.

CBC asked us to create some special new Chinese/ Super Bowl fusion dishes for them. We came up with a couple very interesting dishes. They were a huge hit and everyone at CBC loved it. Unfortunately, they aren't on the menu and won't be for a while. We plan on launching a new section in the menu with some fusion dishes once my brothers and I fully take over the restaurant in about a year.

All I ask is for two things- (In order of importance.)

- Please do not take anything off the menu to make room for new dishes. Golden Inn is one of those places where I order way more than I need, as it is all so good and so are the leftovers.

- If you are looking for ways to improve; why not open for lunch? Even though I am on the far side of Downtown, I'd gladly take a Car2Go trip to make it over there for lunch. Especially seeing as the only good Chinese place on the west part of downtown closed. (Stupid health board and their "rules.")

Let us know when new things are on the menu.
I wonder how well Chinese food would lend itself to some Acti-fry action. I bet it would do a great job on dumplings and won tons.

I don't know about downtown, but Chinatown was super busy. Pretty much all restaurants in Chinatown was fully booked from Thursday to Sunday.

Don't worry, we won't be taking anything off the menu. My parents have spent the last 37 years of their lives running a successful restaurant with a ton of loyal customers. The last thing I'm going to do is piss our long time clients off. The plan is to keep the existing menu, but to add a new page with new fusion dishes.

Opening for lunch was actually the first thing I suggested we do.

I completely agree! It's shocking how behind Calgary is compared to other major cities. Look at Vancouver. It's only a province away and they have a ton of unique fusion type restaurants.

My brother and I have a lot of exciting plans and are looking forward to bringing new flavours and cuisine to Calgary.
