Replacing Weber with Gio would be a massive downgrade for Team Canada. It would not be awesome

I think you need to re read my post because you took it out of context. I said if Weber was injured which would obviously suck for Team Canada, it would be awesome if Gio got a look. That's all.

Very true. You dont want one of the big guys to go down and Weber is almost unquantifiably better than Giordano.

Vlasic, however, is not.

I would wager that on Team Canada, Vlasic is the only defenceman that Giordano is better than.

I don't have much of an issue with Vlasic being there, I think he's being quite underrated as he's been very solid in San Jose this year.

My issue was with Hamhuis, trying not to be a Canuck hater, but I'd easily take Giordano over Hamhuis this year.

If Weber gets injured, I would think Seabrook and maybe Letang would get the nod

Really? I dont know about that.

Maybe this year, but put Hamhuis with a bunch of guys that dont suck and he's probably the superior player.

Hamhuis is probably more injury prone than Vlasic too. I certainly don't wish any ill will on anyone, but concussions have been an issue in the past with Hamhuis. Fortunately for him he's had a good run of health here recently. But with concussion's you never know even something that looks pretty innocent could become a bigger issue with a guy who's had them previously.

I'd also consider Vlasic to be the better player compared to Hamhuis. He's certainly not flashy but he's been really good for the Sharks this year.

Good, and rightfully so.

Giordano is the #1 d-man on a 3rd last placed team that's -45 in goal differential, and he's putting up the 5th best point production amongst defenders and is an even +/-. The guy deserved a better look.

I still remember back in 2005 or something like that when I suggested to Rob Kerr that the Flames should put Giordano in the line up and he snapped back at me saying that he was in Russia.

Well...was he in Russia? Because...he was kinda in Russia for a while. That would make it difficult to get him into the lineup.

Really wish Gio made the team, but Vlasic is seriously underrated by some. Very solid dman. Great pick in the second round with our pick from the Kipper trade.

Do they still bring a "taxi squad"?

That would be sweet if Gio was on that

That would be the best job ever. Sitting in the stands having a beer watching the Olympics and trying to pick up gymnasts.

Although with the gymnasts you really need a professional to inspect their birth certificates because you can never tell with them.

It's also the Winter Olympics.

I'd be going for the snowboarding ladies/figure skaters. I beleive Canada has a couple attractive Bobsledders as well. Hey, where's the Hot Olympians thread?! Don't we usually have one of those?

Aren't Olympic gymnasts like 14 years old?

I dont think they're supposed to be. Thats why you need someone professional checking the ID for fakes....

Gymnasts need to be 16 but with their short stature and heavy training since they were 4 or 5 years old, puberty gets delayed, making them look younger.
