It was probably Feaster who put out, another team was going to take him, argument.
Correction it was Weisbrod.

Weisbrod turned out to be a dud for this organization and is part of the past. Jankowski is part of the present and future and we just have to hope that he doesn't turn out to be the same for the organization as the guy that picked him.

How can you say Weisbrod was a dud? We won't know what impact he had on the organization for the next three to five years. Nice bit of premature dumping on a guy.

Based on the opinion of Erick Estrada and the fact he was a "lone wolf". Forget that he was involved with the best draft picks this organization has seen in a while

Jankowski is in a situation like Backlund has been with the Flames. Plays in a defense first system with two guys with little to no skill and still saddled with expectations to put up points. We won't know much about Jankowski until he gets a chance to play in the top six with other skilled players. Providence has a small program that doesn't attract a ton of skill, so they play a team game featuring strong defense and truculence. Jankowski is cast in a role to work on those same qualities that should make him a perfect future Flame. Unfortunately that doesn't show up in a stat sheet, so posters that rely on stats won't see this or the positives of this development.
|
I haven't seen anyone damning the kid, as I and others have said he's on track for what's to be expected. In other words you're attacking a premise that hasn't been made. What I've been against is the logic that Feaster and Weisbrod used in making the pick.

He may very well have been, but IMO that won't be determined until we see how the 2012 and 2013 drafts pan out for us.
The scouting staff apparently got their "direction" from him while scouting for those two drafts, so the results will be very telling as to what kind of hockey mind Weisbrod really has.

I'm not saying EE is right but recent draft picks always look better than previous years because they haven't had a chance to disappoint yet.

Maybe, but objectively speaking, and judging by opinions from outside the organization, they are better prospects. There isn't as much ambiguity as you are hinting at.

Providence is in Colorado for two games this weekend, and the whole team went for a hike at a place called The Garden of the Gods: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_of_the_Gods
So, this is where his physical development is at today... http://instagram.com/p/jPuRRkyT_3/

Jeeze look at the wingspan on that kid. If he translates well he'll be a nightmare for other teams on the backcheck.
He's looking bigger than he was two years ago. I'm not overly concerned at this point, let him keep growing. Once man strength and size hits a kid like that, he could be unstoppable.

Makes me sick that it is that warm in Denver right now, was hoping for more winter conditions for the football game this weekend. :-)
By the way, been to The Garden of The Gods, must see if you are ever in the area.

Jankowski scored with 20 seconds left to tie it up for the Friars last night. Goal and and assist, 6 wins 6 losses in the faceoff dot.

7 points in his last 8 games. Sounds like the transition to center from the wing is going well.

More goals than last year already and 3 more points to tie last year.
Has 11 games to get 3 points to tie last year.

Sounds like he is pumped up after getting the goal to tie the game after being down 4-1
Mark Jankowski @Janko61 14m
Don't you EVER count the Friars out
