The truth is, it's been a while since Liberals were particularly liberal, in my view. I guess no party so linked with the establishment can be. My personal hope is that a few years in opposition will be very healthy for the party.

Of course they aren't liberal, the modern Conservative Party espouses far more liberal philosophy. The mantra of the Liberal Party over the past 12 years (or 100 years?) has been to say or do whatever it takes to maintain power.
