Stajan signs 4yrs $3.125Mil AAV contract extension (limited NTC)
per Friedman

Expect a contract extension sometime today for Matt Stajan in Calgary.

Stajan extension will be four years, $12.5M...AAV is $3.125M

Well that's interesting and pretty unexpected. I think he played great last year, but in this campaign he seemed to have lost all confidence again.

He's been the team's best natural centre for a while now. He's a #3, but if he's used properly he's a useful guy. Don't hate him nearly as much as I once did.

Definitely cool with it, the guy doesn't have too much trade value and I think he's a really good locker room guy.
I do REALLY hope that his role diminishes in the next few years as younger guys step up though and he isn't playing 1/2 C after next year.
