Got my 1st real enmax bill and I'm just loving this. I used 667 kWh, so nothing crazy. Actually pretyt low. I used 59 dollars in actual electricity, and was charged 56 dollars in admin fees. Love it.
edit: 57 dollars in admin fees for Atco on 34 dollars of energy charge? wtf?

What's even "funnier" is that it was tax dollars that built the energy grid. We pay for it when we buy a new home in that subdivision. Yet we still have to pay monthly for it under the separate fee structure. This wasn't always the case.

I wonder what the true cost of utilities is across canada when you include outrageous admin fees like this.
btw since I'm venting, what's peoples usage of gas? How many GJ per month? Maybe include sq footage?

How do people know what they want to drink before they sit down? I understand that's the case if I'm ordering a classic cocktail that is served everywhere (Martini, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, etc.), but if I plan to order beer or wine or a house special cocktail, how can I be expected to know what the restaurant has available without first consulting the drink list?

You must hang with quite the crew if you guys are always getting wacky drinks off that little menu. I thought those over-priced sissy drinks were for girls' nights out and that's it. I've been over 18 for 19 years and go out a fair amount. I have seen a guy order a drink off the drink menu exactly zero times in all those years.

I usually ask for a Big Rock Grasshopper and have yet to be told we don't serve that beer. Most people I would think would order something that is on every resturants drink menu.

Competence - the ability to do something successfully or efficiently.
Like it's really hard to have the few cards you need when you are out. The cashier takes a second to swipe the card. Meanwhile 'Joe I can't remember to bring my card" has to tell the cashier his phone number and she/he has to type it in. I can't count how many times the phone number was wrong or the cashier typed it in wrong.
Just bring your damn card.
|
Such a strange thing to get all militant about. It's either equal or faster to say a phone number than to physically pass a person a card. Ordinarily I would just ignore this kind of post, but I'm truly mystified as to why you're upset about people without safeway cards. It is completely inconsequential to you. No bearing on your life whatsoever. How can you possibly be annoyed by this?

You never order wine? Or beer on tap?

I'd be surprised if any two restaurants in Calgary had identical wine lists (excluding chains or multiple establishments belonging to a single ownership group).

Got a two-fer today.
First, the road near my place. Now it's got ice drifts on the side of it, which means that while it's narrow in the first place, now with people parking 3-5' from the curb on both sides of the road, it's even worse. It's barely a single lane road now. Still think that parking should only be allowed on a single side of the road, and the city should heavily enforce that. Make a fortune in towing, they would.
Second, the guy in front of me in the Tim's drive-through who somehow managed to get a bunch of crude from his jacked up truck onto the bottom of the debit machine, turning it inoperable.

Another gear grinder. Have your card ready. It's not rocket science. You know you'll need it when you get there so get it ready. I always have mine out, along with my air miles card (at Safeway anyway) to hand to the cashier.

Sure it does. They have to ring off their phone number, the cashier has to ready the system for non-standard input and either the people get the number wrong, can't remember the number they used for the card, because they have since changed their number or the cashier types it in wrong and we go through the process again.
Just bring your damn card.

It's funny how anecdotal evidence works, because I've been going to safeway for years, and have never once seen someone sit there and not know their phone number for their card or the cashier screw up the number.
It also appears to take virtually the same amount of time to type out the phone number as it does to pass a card and have it swiped. Or at least an inconsequential time difference.

Annoying when this happens:
What kind of beer do you have on tap?
Oh we have lots.
Okay I will have ____.
Sorry we don't have that.
Oh, okay I will have____.
Sorry we don't have that either.
Etc.

The one I normally hear is:
What beers do you have on tap?
Server lists the 30 different brands.
I'll have a Bud.

The arena roof in Sylvan Lake collapsed. This totally messes up Hockey, Figure Skating, and just public skating.

Maybe post an article that gives an account of what happened. Maybe give some context to it as well.
http://nypost.com/2014/01/19/cops-be...-he-jaywalked/
It does sound like he was jaywalking, but he sounds like he was injured when he wouldn't stay around for a ticket and after he pushed a cop. I'm sure there is more to it, but to say cops beat a senior for jaywalking is misleading.

Seems to happen quite often when I go. Or people can't figure out what number is associated after several attempts...and then guess what? They ask if they can use my card...you know, the one I brought with me and have out already...
