my gear grinder is from last night. we were going out last night and my wife insisted that i drive. i rarely drive her vehicle and we got an inch of new snow late yesterday afternoon and she had heard that the roads were crazy slippery. her vehicle is a year or 2 old - so it's got all wheel drive, traction control, anti slip/skid stuff and abs. i'm used to driving my truck... 25 years old, lifted 6", 35" mud tires, rear wheel drive and traction control and abs weren't even a dream back when my truck was made. we got onto a safe, flat stretch of road with no traffic so i wanted to see what her vehicle would do under a little stress. i tried to put it into a bit of a skid and you could feel the traction control stuff kick in and my wife gets all ticked off at me. i turn to her and say, ' look - you insisted that i drive. i want to know what your car (which i never drive) will do if i get into a skid so i know how to react!"
so i guess my gear grinder is getting in crap for trying to find out in a very safe way (i was going maybe 15kph) how my wife's vehicle reacts in a skid. i've had this 'chat' with her before - forcing her to engage the abs so she knows what it feels like when that system kicks in so she won't panic if she has to ever slam on the brakes

my all time favorite hockey call was a few year's ago. jeff finger was playing for the av's and got a breakaway on luongo. the call from jim hughson is below in my sig. when jim blurted that out all conversation in the room stopped, my buddies and i looked at each other and then erupted into laughter

I used to have this same trouble with my ex wife. She would always insist that I drive when the roads were bad but then try to tell me how to drive on bad roads.

That guy who seems to voice every single ad on the Fan RGMG - particularly as the Auto Value faux-talkshow host. I have seldom heard a voice with less sincerity or genuineness than his, and I have no idea why he's used for so many of them. Are there no other reasonably cheap voice-over guys in Calgary?

So, your wife is like...every other wife on the planet.

I tell mine to hop into the back seat if she wants to back-seat drive.

I head over to Summit physio here in High River to enquire about prices and the woman at the front desk asks what I need done. I explain my situation about my broken wrist, subsequent surgery and that i'm still suffering from sore tendons and overall stiffness. She replies that anyone who has had surgery is entitled to 7 visits covered by AHS.

My surgeon never told me this and neither did my GP. I got lucky that with the town being hit with a flood, AHS had extended the time in which one could apply for therapy. She also laughed when I mentioned my surgeon and said they never do

WGMG is a girl in my office heats up her neck pad in the communal microwave each day. I don't want her neck fat sweat and dandruff being heated where I heat my lunch up. I asked her not to do it, and she said it's sanitary, because food is on a plate, and her skin wouldn't come off of her neck pad. I asked if she'd heat up soup right after I microwaved some soiled underwear. She said it wasn't the same thing. I think it's pretty close.

She's also one of those who comes in 90 minutes before most people, so she can leave 90 minutes before they do. She is always talking about how early she's there, even though there are a couple of us who come in around the same time, and I'm there before her about half the time. The worst part is she surfs the net and reads her Kindle for the first 90 minutes she's there. I don't care if you're on the net, but you don't get to leave 90 minutes before everyone if you didn't actually start working until everyone else did.

Nope - Redvan is right: I'm married to her sister.

And in happier news, her overnight flight yesterday morning made it there successfully, and she was able to add a day to the trip! So a half-trip is much better than nothing.

Glad to hear her luck is starting to turn around. Although, I think we all believe you could take a more active role in helping her feel better.

I'll give you a hint. It involves the phrases "Dear Penthouse, I'm a liberal arts student at a small midwestern college" and "my unusually large...."

Off the cuff no, it really depends on the individuals. I have met plenty of 19 yr olds that are more mature than 24 yr olds.
