I seriously hope he is the 7th D. At least Nash and Marleau have won at the international level (and they probably won't dress anyways)
Bouwmeester playing real minutes for this team should terrify everyone in Canada!

Have you watched Bouwmeester since he joined St. Louis? He is having an amazing year and there's no way he doesn't deserve to be on Team Canada.

Not this year, not even close at all. Throw in his skating and the bigger ice and he's far from the worst defensively on this team.

Has worked out well enough for the Blues.
No one who has watched him in St. Louis thought he should be left off. He was a lock at this point.

There's no doubt that Yzerman and Co. micromanaged and watched a lot of film on these guys so it's their vision of the best team for the big ice. That said I don't like this team and feel this is not much different than NFL draft type micromanagement where they are overly nitpicking minor flaws of better players left off the team.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. St.Louis /Giroux / Thornton >> Marleau / Kunitz /Carter. They messed this up.

Why do people hate on Carter? He isn't that flashy, on a strong team in the west, a wicked sneaky shot, big body, and plays defensive hockey under D. Sutter

So who plays center? I have Crosby, Tavares, Toews and Bergeron.

Kunitz has such great chemistry with Crosby that he is undeniable, in my opinion.
Nash? Yeah, he's been bad this season. No reason to believe he won't pull it together for the Olympics. Great talents have a history of going to the Rangers and shiznitting the bed.
St. Louis & Giroux vs Carter & Nash? Skill vs size... I guess they're banking on Crosby being enough smallish, high-end skill for the whole team.

His skating and outlet pass are precisely why he's an asset in this tournament and he'll be playing beside Pietrangelo so no, he won't be the 7th D or the 8th. I suspect the 8th will be Vlasic or Hamhuis.
Meanwhile, Claude Giroux is Canada's Bobby Ryan.

Honestly. I'd rather have Hall on the team than Nash.

Yes saying Gio should be on the team is not a homer pick.
Saying it was a stupid/bad decision or that Hamhuis is a bad pick is a homer call.

Carter is the one that surprises me the most.
Nash and Marleau have played huge roles at the Olyimpics before, and Kunitz/Sharpe are both playing great and have Toews and Crosby chemistry.

Personally would have gone with Giroux over Nash, but in a 3rd line shutdown road, Nash will do the job.

And I am not even kidding.
Bouwmeester is below average defensively against NHL teams, let alone Olympic teams. He does not have a good defensive IQ.

He's right up there in points, and has the highest +/- of any defenseman on the team.

I get that Marleau is a good skater and versatile but he's one of those guys that usually comes up small in the playoffs. Not a clutch guy and I would have taken St. Louis over him.

Bouwmeester has won gold internationally more than once and scored a championship winning goal in '04. Educate yourself a little.
