Frickin' Oilers.

Now 2-9-3 against the Pacific Division... 0-9-2 against the teams not named the Flames.

Brian Hayward, colour commentator for the Ducks, has been merciless in his indictment of the Oilers. A couple examples...

"normally, going 0 for 8 on the PP would be trouble in a game -fortunately they are playing the Oilers"

"that was a 2 on 3 that resulted in a good scoring chance - the Oilers' inability to play defense is absolutely astonishing"

and "it's 6 on 3 - they should be winning every puck battle but (there is no effort). It speaks volumes about what is wrong with the organization"

By the way... Anaheim has played 18 home games - they are 16-0-2 for 34 pts

They have more points in 18 games than Edmonton has in 44 games, going 13-26-5 for a whopping 31 pts.

That's 3 more points with 26 games in hand!

So what is more embarrassing? The fact that Ben Lovejoy scored twice on Edmonton, or the fact that Ben Lovejoy has more goals tonight than the Flames have in a week?

sshhhh, let's leave the flames bashing in the gdt. oot threads have been a solid place for rejuvenation on nights the oilers play for a decade.

hall/rnh/perron/j.shultz = -13 tonight

Hall -4, didn't eakins/hall speak on his defensive prowess this season recently when talking about team canada.. what a joke.

Hall a combined -7 in his last 2 games. Yakupov a combined even in his last 2 games.

At least the Oilers are still awful while the Flames are awful. Hopkins with juicy turnover after turnover but never gets talked about. Why? If it was Yakupov making the mistakes he's been making people would be all over him. Why the double standard?

One part his perceived attitude and one part is the Russian Hockey player stereotype.

He over celebrates goals which is annoying but I don't see no attitude problem from him. Never have and I have been following him for a while. I think his personality is that of a Russian which is kind of weird for us North Americans to understand which is why Russians sometimes get painted with a brush they don't deserve to be painted with.

Hopkins deserves just as much heat that Yakupov receives. He gets his points but is downright lost when not playing with the puck. He does not belong in the NHL right now. Needs to learn to play for the team and not to rack up points.

Cassie Campbell called out Hall about a month ago and she was the only one who had the guts to do so. He floats back worse than any Oiler. Doesn't back check, doesn't hit, doesn't do anything other than wait for the puck and cherry pick for points. His on ice attitude seems to be the worse of anyone on that team. Continually has the Glencross whine face going on when things don't go his way.

That is the problem with the Oilers. They can't hold any of their young stars accountable because they just handed them ice time regardless of how good they were playing.

Yakupov is the first one they've tried to hold accountable to his play. But of course that makes Yakupov realize the double standard. And that is dangerous because if he thinks he is singled out unfairly time and time again he may get sick of the situation and screw EDM by returning to Russia or demanding a trade and tanking his trade value.

My Oilers friend believes they should've benched some of their young stars earlier in their careers and even this year so that there isn't the double standard. That would've been smart. Luckily we're not making the same mistake with Baertschi, just handing him top two line icetime regardless of how well he plays. The coaches and managers are making Baertschi earn his way up the organization and lineup with a complete game. The Oilers are only now asking their young stars to play a complete game and its put Eakins in a tough situation where he can't really bench his 6 million dollar stars.

I wonder if anyone will whine when Yak misses the Russian Olympic team, heck they were smart for not even considering him in the Summer. The guy is just a complete disaster, yet still only one of many on the team. Boyd Gordon would probably be their MVP right now which is absolutely pathetic.

Oh and pretty funny that Bryzgalov lost to all three of his former teams all in the same week (Flyers, Coyotes, and Ducks). I bet he is one happy camper right now.

- Ice time
- Massive contracts
- Letters on their jerseys
- Changing the coach each year
