I notice everyone tries to put their spin on a traditional name by replacing "i" with "y"
Jessyca
Madyson
Mychelle
etc.
It really looks stupid IMO, and makes the the parents look illiterate.

I went to highschool with a guy named Benjamin Dover, as in Ben Dover. Apparently his parents were staunch mormons, and the jokes literally never even occurred to them.

I went to school with a guy named Michael Hunt. He made sure everyone called him Michael and not Mike.

I babysat a kid named Chance Card when I was younger.
There is also a family from around here named "Horney". There are 7 brothers and sisters (3 of which my parents went to school with) and they are all named with the first and middle initials of R. U. Robert Ulysses. Rhonda Ulma... Etc etc. My dad told me that when he was in school, with Robert, and told me he in school they had to use their first and middle initial followed by their full last name. R. U. Horney.
I also work with a guy named Albert Albert Albert.

Grew up in the 70's so I saw some bad names...went to school with a kid named Sky Blue. At least his folks gave him a 'normal' middle name...which is what we all called him. He was a tough kid...

I was reading a list of the top 100 Canadian baby names in 2012 the other day. Because I apparently do things like that.
But I was shocked and dismayed to see the name Ocean at number 50 on the list for girls. Ocean. FIFTIETH MOST POPULAR NAME.

I searched out her account. She hasn't posted in like 2 years. I also figured its best to not post stuff about her. Probably the best way to avoid any backlash.

I taught a girl swim lessons and her name was Oceanne. Her parents were french I think and it was pronounced Oh-see-anne. It suited her.
As for the "Y" names: Our daughter's name is Ryley. Who doesn't like Rye? Besides, if we spelled it with an "i" it would look like a boys name.
I worked with a girl named Dragana. She was a bit of a slut.

While I don't plan on having children, if I ever have a boy, his name will be Maceo. I'm a nerdy white Irish-Kraut, but the strongest influence on my music is Maceo Parker. Horn section leader for James Brown.

One time on one of the baby mama drama episodes of Maury, one of the kids that was being tested to see who was the father was named Ron'Tavious. Apostrophe's in the name is a surefire sign of a ridiculous name.

If it's an ethnic name, I have no problem with that. It's the stupid made up ones that piss me off.
