I wonder what kind of back injury would sideline him for the year. I don't think they'd say that if they just saw a herniated disc on the MRI. Something fractured I guess, which could be a long recovery.

Bad injury news for the Packers too. Clay Matthews will not play against Chicago, Eddie Lacy is questionable and Aaron Rodgers is doubtful.

Almost perfect football weather for tonights (probably) final game in Candlestick.
Edit: Here is a panorama of the 49er locker room https://www.thesphere.com/221324

I'm pretty sure it has to be set already, I don't think they can do a swap now? I for one am pretty happy as I wouldn't have been able to watch an earlier game haha
I feel pretty bad for Romo, the guy isn't ever going to get the recognition he deserves, he is a good quarterback in a floundering organisation.

Agreed, Romo gets a lot of blame but without him, they are battling the redskins for last in the NFC East.... if the eagles get their offense going, another 50 points is likely as Dallas cant stop anyone

Like the Bears last night, the 49ers have everything in the world to play for and don't appear ready to play. Cardinals-49ers for the playoffs next week would be a great game.

What a way to send out Candlestick!
However, I am a little disappointed. I was hoping to see a SF-Arizona winner take all game next week

Yeah that was a crazy ending. I thought the Falcons were going to get a go ahead TD with the way they were driving. Great play by Bowman especially after he messed up the onside kick.
1 week left of the regular season and still a lot to be decided!
For the division:
Packers @ Bears
Eagles @ Cowboys
Rams @ Seahawks (for the #1 seed)
Bucs @ Saints (for the Saints to clinch a playoff spot)
49ers @ Cardinals (if Saints lose, for AZ to clinch a playoff spot, if Seattle loses, for the 49ers to get the division title)
Panthers @ Falcons (for Carolina to hold on to the #2 seed)
Broncos @ Raiders (for the Broncos to hold on to the #1 seed)
Bills @ Patriots (for NE to hold on to the #2 seed and a Bronco loss to give them the #1 seed)
Ravens @ Bengals (for the Bengals to hold on to the #3 seed, and a Patriot loss for them to move up to #2. For the Ravens to win and get some help and have the #6 seed)
Jaguars @ Colts (for the Colts to win and get help to move up to the #2 or #3 seed)
Jets @ Dolphins (for the Dolphins to win and get help to get the #6 seed)
Chiefs @ Chargers (for the Chargers to win and get help to get the #6 seed)
Browns @ Steelers (for the Steelers to win and get help to get the #6 seed)

seems unfair to have early and late games. There will always be a do-or-die divisional title game that hinges on nothing for the night game, that's fine for NBC's ratings.
But otherwise, the NFL should really consider making all games in Week 17 late 4pm Eastern starts.

The NFL released some of which teams will be playing who for next year. This is the Colts 16 games for 2014:
Home games
Jacksonville, Houston, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New England, Washington
Road games
Jacksonville, Houston, Tennessee, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Denver, New York Giants

It's funny how the Ravens can win and they still might miss the playoffs, but they can also lose and make the playoffs. Just pure craziness how these things are decided.

Indianapolis and Cincinnati are both bi-polar teams as division leaders (Indy playing in the NFL's worst division), and Miami, Baltimore, San Diego and Pittsburgh don't really scare anyone either (though of course all could make the Super Bowl, it being the NFL).
Arizona is better than all 6 of those teams, and if they had an actual QB might be fighting for the division this year. I mean they're 10-5 with Carson Palmer having 22TDs and 21INTs. Their defense is terrific, all 4 NFC West defenses are top 10 units.

Bringing injuries into this is a moot point. We all know what Rodgers means to the Packers. Injuries can make or break your season. It doesn't really support your argument about what conference is tougher. Both conferences have to deal with injuries throughout the year. You could argue that Reggie Wayne is just as important to the colts as Rodgers is to the Packers and the Colts could be 13-3 with him in the lineup.
I think this year the conferences are more equal than other years. You claim the Cardinals are better than Miami, SD, Balt and Pitts. Fine this may be true based on overall record but if you want to judge how good a team is I'm a big believer in you really need to look at strength of schedule and strength of victory. This is a good indication of how one team might stack up in the playoffs as ever playoff team is above average.
Arizona's strenght of victory is .439 while Miami has .508. Yes Miami loses to bad teams but they beat the good teams. They could turn some heads in the playoffs if they make it. Miami has shown that they are a team that plays to the level of there competition.
Other AFC teams Baltimore is .433 SD is .533 and pitts is .471. Based on Strength of Victories you could argue that these 5 teams are failry close.
Kansas City I don't think scares anyone in the playoffs they're 2-4 in there last 6 after finally playing good competition and there strength of victory is .339. It's almost better to be the 4 seed than the 3 seed in the AFC this year.
With all that being said one good team in the NFC will not make the playoffs, that is true. But you could argue two average teams (NFC North and NFC East) winners get in instead.
You call Indy and Cincy bipolar teams. The same could be said about the Panthers and the 49ers. In m opinion, I think those teams have two of the most overrated qbs.
Any given sunday my friend. But the NFC and AFC are pretty damn equal conferences this year.

The Eagles have caught a lot of breaks this year, but I'm not willing to write off the Cowboys just because Romo is out. This defense made Matt Cassell look like a superstar.

The Bears and Lions were both given free passes to the playoffs and they both lost them. Packers meanwhile go a month without winning and can still host a playoff game. Ouch.

Tremendous news.
It also sounds like Randall Cobb may be available as well...which could be just as important if Lacy cant go. His short possesion cathces would alleviate that loss a bit.
Gonna be fun to watch anyway.

I'm thrilled Rodgers is back.
Now it will be a battle, no excuses. Should be a hell of a game
